1969 Topps Football

I am thinking about starting a set of 1969 Topps Football. I just really started to look at the cards in the set on the bay and noticed some cards have white borders and some don't. So I am asking the experts here to help me with some tips on what I should know about this set. My main reason for doing this set is Larry Csonka, he is my all time favorite and is his RC. I also really like the design of the set. Any info or tips wouold be most helpful.
Thanks

This is one of my favorites and just about 100% done. Just in the last year this has become a very popular set (at least according to the registry). PSA 8 are quite affordable as are the high pop 9s.

As to your question, the first series of the set had no borders which makes them very vulnerable to dings and
chips. The Second series which is more scarce are the cards with the white borders.

On average you could expect to pay $15-20 per PSA 8 card. As you may note if you check out the Pop report
there are about 5-10 cards that are tough to find in PSA 8 or above.

You could probably get a Csonka in PSA 8 for around $100ish - a 9 will be around $1,000.

Good luck and let me know if I can help further.

    Ebay auction 1969 topps football

I saw this auction and some of these cards seem to have green borders. Any thoughts on this, or are the cards just overlapping?

Those appear to all be from the first series (no borders). My guess is that maybe used green paper between them
for the photo or something like that.

They seem to have some holes in them also. I saw this auction and it got me a little confused. Which is what promted me to ask about this set. That auction is just weird.
    Thanks for the help J!
  • Based on the questtion someone asked, and the seller's answer - though it's not real clear - I think the cards are in somthing like a card saver holder with a green back and a hologram sticker on the front.

No borders are from Series 1 and the borders are from series 2. Series commons are worth little bit more than series 1, but not a big difference. The Csonka is a fairly common card in Ex, but I haven't seen that many in Nrmt.
Running an Ebay store sure takes a lot more time than a person would think!
