    Julen,
What did they run you per box?

  • I noticed that the BBCKID has them on his website for $295 per box. Do you mind sharing if he gave you a discount on 4 boxes?

I bought all 4 wax boxes for $275/box. With 10% discount I was able to purchase box of 84 Donruss for very little.

1 wax box sucked (Far too many Pete Redfern and Mike Tyson cards and oh yea a flacid Rickey Henderson with a GIANT gum stain on the back); The other 3 boxes had much better results.

1-I first removed all fish eyes, gum stains and misprints from ALL cards. ~ 30% of the cards.
2-Sorted the cards and printed off copy of pop report to match any low pop commons that I pulled (laborious task but pretty fun); intend on submitting about 30 low pop commons for grading at Nationals. This was really hard, because I liked a lot of the commons, but chose not to include them for grading.
3-HOF Cards I plan to submit at Nationals: 5 Rickey Hendersons, Pete Rose, 2 George Brett, 4 Eddie Murray, 1 Johnny Bench, 2 Reggie Jackson, 1 Jim Palmer, 2 Ozzie Smith, and several Mike Schmidts (I pulled like 14 of these DP cards, half being ungradeable)
4-Of the 2000+ cards I NEVER pulled a Nolan Ryan, makes me sick.

I have about 90% completed set (minus aforementioned Ryan), so I may take this pseudo-set to my local card shop and wrangle a deal for a box of something?

Obviously super fun for me. I don't know if I will even make half of what I spent on these cards, but some of the low pop commons could pan out nicely and the HOF cards may surprise me. I kind of chose wrong time to do this, considering these psa 9's of HOF cards and low pop cards are selling for really LOW prices currently, but who cares about that right?

    Julen,
I can't believe you didn't pull one Ryan out of 144 packs. image So you pulled six Hendersons? Anyway, I bet you had a blast...I don't want to start ripping old wax, I'd easily become addicted...

Yeah Julen, the 1980 9's are rediculously low. I got a 4 vending bricks back in 2001 and only got 1 henderson and it only got an 8. I still have all the HOF'ers ungraded as they are below some other stuff on my grading priorities. But what did you see as the low pop commons? I haven't looked through these boxes iin a bit and would like to see if I could find something I overlooked.

I'd be interested in a Mint Roy Smalley.
    Enjoy your collection!

I could certainly use a Randy Jones from 1980, about 4500 cards looked thru over the years and from the four copies I got, one MIGHT possibly be a 7 !

Just about a half hour ago Randy Jones and four other PSA 9 low pop commons closed for around 30- 40 bucks on ebay !! I believe all had at least two high amount snipers, so probably the next ones auctioned will have interest. I bid a bit over 23 for Randy and was beaten by two different bidders.

No Roy Smally and this is the only Randy Jones I found. Form your own opinion on condition.

Flaccid is my new favorite word to describe a card. And if you want to trade an off grade Henderson, I'm sure I can send you an off grade Ryan to complete your set! PM me if you need one.

Is Wally Backman in the 80T set? Flacid or not?

Good thing Rafael Palmeiro was only 30 years old and still working his way up through the minor leagues in 1980 - I think his card would have been the opposite of flaccid.
