Where oh where has Tino gone?

Hmm.

Since going on his HR tear, Tino Martinez has batted:

4/30 (.133) with no home runs and just one extra base hit. His batting average has plummeted from .286 down to .252. Slugging is down over 100 points as well. Is he done? This is no short-term trend...this has taken place over the past 2+ weeks.

I hope those of you who picked him up for their fantasy baseball teams unloaded him at the peak of his stretch!

I can hear the radio announcers now - "The Bamtino strikes again!"...

Fun while it lasted, I guess...

Will George have a coronary if this team doesn't make the playoffs? There is a real strong chance they will not.

Let's see....the Yankees are 5 games out and only a mere 2 games behind the World Champions. There are 109 games remaining. Sure the Yankees have been streaky this year but I am not counting them out. In 1978 the Yankees came from 14 games back at the All Star break to force a playoff and Bucky Boston. Then there was the the 1964 Philadelphia Phillies leading by 6-1/2 games with two weeks to go and they collapsed, finishing in a tie for second. And who could forget the 1973 Mets who were 9 1/2 games out in mid August and they came back to go on to win the pennant. Yeah, I am worried....the Yankees are out of it.

Tino and ARod are solely responsible for the Yankees winning 16 out of 18 games recently.

I meant the clock on Tino, Gemmy. Yeah, he was a big spark at the start of the recent Yankee rally, but the guy's had like 1 RBI in his last dozen games and has seen his average fall by 40 points or so. I'd be willing to bet that his performance the rest of the season will be more like the last half of May rather than the first half.

I would say his performance will be a happy medium but Tino is not through by a long shot. Tino was always a streak hitter even during his hey day.
