SWEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEP !!!!!!!!!

What a fitting ending to a great game - a 21 year-old records the final out to a player who has been the league almost 21 years....very nice!

Didn't Arod have an 0'fer for the series????

Arod did indeed go hitless (just checked the box scores), though he did have 2 walks.

That being said, he's still the AL MVP.

He is another 110 games to prove that. You should have a photo of ARod in your Signature Line.

No way - doesn't the MVP mean a player who does the most to help his team win? The most valuable player - one whom without that player, the team would be much worse off? That doesn't describe Rodriguez at all. The best individual stats award - he has a great shot at that one.

    Who would you say then?

How much has Arod carried that team on his back both in the field and at the plate? He's the only player in that all-star lineup to contrbute consistenly, will likely lead the league in homers and RBIs and top 10 in BA, top 5 in OPS. How is that not helping his team win?

It is really easy to dislike Rodriguez - but, that isn't why I don't think he is an MVP candidate. The Yankees would be in the same place with or without him - and, so far, almost all of his production has come in the less important series the Yankees have played. When you need a big hit, it usually doesn't come from his bat. He is certainly compiling a great year statistically for himself - and, it is early yet - but if you took Rodriguez from the Yankees, I can't see them doing any worse. That is a big factor in judging an MVP. "Most Valuable Player".

Too early to pick someone for this IMO - but, for example, Miguel Tejada seems more valuable to his team than Rodriguez.

    MUWAHAHAHAHAHA!
So basically my kid won't be able to go to college, but at least I'll have a set where the three most expensive cards are of a player I despise ~ CDsNuts

I think you need to look at the following in addition to ARod

    1. Tejada - Just Look at his stats
    2. Podsednik - Without him the Sox would be nowhere near first place
    3. Guerrero - Don't count him out when he gets back from the DL, although the Angels continue to win without him.

I think at this point, it comes down to ARod and Tejada, though.
