Randy Johnson's Excuse

The American League has better hitters. Is there any truth to this? The AL has the DH. Look what happened when Clemens went to the NL. Vasquez did well in the NL. The he came to the Yankees and did poor. Now he is back in the NL and doing better. Brad Halsey, a young Rookie who the Yankees gave away along with Vasquez to Arizona is also doing well. Maybe it's just da Yankee Pressure Cooker. Besides Mussina, the Yankees young Chinese Rookie pitcher has been the most consistent.

  • I thought the Yankees were using the Wakefield, or Moyer excuse.....

I really don't know how you can quantify which league has better hitters.

It's not my excuse. Johnson made a similar comment.

The Yankees hitting sucked this series. My point to stown the other day is a young team with talent can become good with a low payroll like the Marlins did in 2003. KC has some good young hard throwing pitchers. That kid's fastball was timed at 99 miles per hour.
  • Thanks Gemmy - tough to watch sometimes --- honestly, I'm not really sure just WHY the Royals decided to finally put it together this week.

    Voodoo?

The AL, especially the AL East has always been tough on pitchers. How Clemens lasted as long as he did is a miracle. Anyway, Johnson is pitching exactly what many predicted he would. Here is his AL East record prior to 2005 (ripped it off ESPN a few months back).
