A good seller for raw cards

I just bought some raw '71 hoops from a guy named bbdiamondsareforever on Ebay, and the cards were as advertised. He said they were 'mint', and aside from some centering issues on a few of them he was bang on. Most of these cards are easy 8's, which as far as I'm concerned is a good as it gets when it comes to buying 30 year old cards on the 'bay.

Have you tried Sims Classic Sports? They are very accurate with grading and will give you a refund if you are not happy. I have bought over 1000 cards form them and have only been disapointed with two of them. If you sign up with them please use my refferal code of 881.

    Thanks,
    Ryan
  • Another good place is mickeys sports cards. You guys might know them allready. But, their grading is either dead on,or even undergraded.

Another seller is 71Toppsman.Accurate grader and very high grade cards.
Please be kind to me. Even though I'm now a former postal employee, I'm still capable of snapping at any time.

I haven't bought anything from them, but I've heard good things about this seller.

I have been very happy with 71Toppsman and waverly82.
  • Boopots,
Make sure you check 'em real well before sending them to be graded. Scott Tipton (The best 71 set I ever saw) got royally--I mean royally burned with '71 baseball from them. I don't recall the actual numbers, but it was in the neighborhood of 100 cards that were altered on a 150-card submission about 3 years ago. I'll never forget standing in line with him waiting for the doors to open in Rosemont and looking at his invoice. At $6 per card plus shipping the prospect of what happened horrified me. Until that point he was a huge fan and frequent buyer of their raw cards...not so much after that.

    DGF-

Ouchie. And thanks for the heads-up. I'm not even sure I'll get them graded- they're mid-grade 8's, so there's no money in it.. I really just bought them because they were something like $1.50 a card, and I'll buy anything that's 30 yrs. old in NM-MT for that price.

Do you think they altered them, or do you think they got them already altered? Hard to believe anyone would screw a steady buyer on what couldn't have amounted to more than $150 in raw cards, but then I guess stupidity has no cap....

I bought some 71 GMS from them back five years ago. All were advertised as "mint". All came back trimmed that I bought from bbdiamondsareforever. Just thought I would let you know because they probably are as well.

Agreed Gaspipe. Strictlymint.com is outstanding. Dave's Vintage Cards is also a good source, imo.
