Another example of the PayPal surcharges

While looking at an eBay seller's items, I noticed (s)he has a $0.30 surcharge for PayPal orders under $5.00. From I've read here -- and in PayPal's guidelines -- that's a no-no.

Just thought I'd warn anyone buying there...

<< <i>Due to our super low prices, PayPal payments must total $5.00 or more to be accepted or you may add $.30 cents to your PayPal total before paying to help cover our costs if you want to place an order under $5.00 using PayPal. Email us if you have any questions. >>

I am surprised such a large seller would resort to something like this. I am also sure they will have to stop listing it so blatantly very soon...

  • Unfortunately this seems to be a case where the seller is too honest. They should have just raised the shipping and Handling to cover the .30 cents. The solution seems simple though. Wait till your total order is over $5image

  • Very good seller by the way. I hope they dont get burned though, they dont use DC. Recieved a few cards just yesterday no DC.

He does say "you MAY add $0.30 to help cover costs." This doesn't sound like a requirement so he MAY get away with it. I've bought before from sellers that noted a Paypal surcharge however, I didn't pay it and still received my card. I think people just throw it in there with hopes of getting some buyers to bite.
