Barry Bonds Story About White People in Today's Chicago Tribune

This is simply a FYI and I won't comment on it.

Chicago Tribune June 2, 2005

"Former Sox outfielder Ron Kittle writes in his current book that he once asked Barry Bonds to sign a jersey for him to help raise money for charity, only to have Bonds respond, "I don't sign for white people."

Then Kittle wrote: "I said, 'White guys aren't the only ones who get cancer,' but Bonds just turned his back on me and walked out."

    Another ball player trying to sale his book. I wouldn't put anything past Bonds.

    Well all I can tell you is that I knew a former Pirate who was up for a few cups of coffee while Bonds was around and he would not autograph anything for this teammate. a real tool.....And yes this player was white..not sure if that had anything to do with it though
    I am on a budget and I am not afraid to use it!!

    As bad a guy as Bonds is, doesn't it seem strange that this Kittle guy is coming out NOW and saying this?

    Seems like a money and publicity grab to me (although it doesn't mean it didn't happen, but come on now, let's be a little less obvious about it).

    I am not sure what you are saying when you say its publicity!! I dont see Kittle on a book tour saying that Bonds did this stuff. Being in Chicago I hear him on the radio and see him around town quite a bit and this is the 1st time I heard this story. I dont think is pub at all because if you knew Ron Kittle or had the opportunity to spend time talking to him for a extended period one on one you would know thats not the way he operates. (yes I did have this opportunity 3 separate times..he is genuine and has not forgotten where he came from!!)

    If this was pub, Kittle's web site would have been pushed. THis man does a lot for charity and is grateful for what he has been given. He is one of these guys that will do a ton of stuff behind the scenes and get no credit for it and does not want it!!

    The racial comment aside which is Barry Bond's problem, not Ron Kittle's problem - Bonds not taking 5 seconds out to sign for a cancer charity is despicable. Just another reason in the long list of reasons to dislike Barry Bonds.
