Hate when they do this!

Sorry for the gripe so early in the morning, but I see this a lot and had to say something. Please sellers take a straight on picture of your card(s). Everytime I see this I think that the seller is trying to hide the fact that the centering is off a more than is shown. I know this card is a PSA 8, but centering can vary quite a bit. Thanks for letting me vent.

He had to turn the camera to keep the glare off the slab.

No offence, but a lot of you guys get waayyy to anal about what makes for a proper ebay listing. Look at the card-- any reasonable estimate put the centering at somewhere around 65/35. If you buy it, and it turns out to be 70/30, I can't believe it's the end of the world.

I had not thought of that, since I do not sell anything and only buy. Point taken.

Even worse is the PSA 8 that is actually psa 8 o/c, then you set a snipe all excite when it is 30% of smr and ........

Personally speaking, I don't understand why anyone who sells any cards of value on Ebay wouldn't invest in a scanner.

I have a scanner but it's crappy.. The scans of slabbed cards come out fuzzy.

So I would take angled pictures much like the one posted above with my digital camera.. However my pictures were better.. from all angles and up close.. crisp and clear..

I later found with the digital camera that what works best is just sitting the slabbed card upright against a wall as 90° as possible without it falling over.. in the right lighting.. with macro turned on.. with the flash turned off and the timer set so my mug wouldn't be seen in the reflection of the plastic holder. It takes a few times moving the card around to different area's for the best light/less reflection but it's better than taking angled pictures.

For high priced stuff I use my Dad's scanner which works much better.. I think I should trade scanners with him as he finds his too complicated to use and mine is a super easy.

Yeah. It's not easy to take a decent picture without angling the card sometimes. I have this problem sometimes with my digital camera as well. Scanning doesn't always work out too well either depending on the glare, especially if the card itself has reflective properties like the chromes or foils.

That card has a bit of a diamond cut. I think a lot of times you get an angled picture so that the seller can make the tilt (or poor centering) less obvious. I'm not saying that is the case with this particular listing, but it happens a lot.

I know that 67s seem to have a lot of diamond cuts, it this an issue with other Topps years and which ones.

What ever floats his/her boat (TMc).

1957 doesnt have "Diamond Cuts" per say but sometime the cards are slanted on a square card...its really odd...the cutters were in great alignment that year but sometimes the entire sheets must have been slanted a little...56 has a similar problem but not as frequent it seemed.

by the way..that card IS slanted...follow the right white border...it gets larger at the end....the top is even...i think that card is more slanted then diamond cut.
