I just love how the pic was taken by a bunch of trash, in a basement, to give off the "old house" feel. What an A$$WHOLE

they may return any card not deemed genuine for a refund (based on % of cards).

So he sends out 1000, 88 donruss commons with a few Mantle reprints and when you attempt a refund for the 52 Mantle (or whatever) you get back 3.00, you return all the replrints and get back 32.00!! This guy is evil.

The seller sure went to a lot of effort to make those reprints look old and beat up.

As was stated in another thread on this auction, he bought the fake Mantles from a supplier who sells 25-count stacks of Mick reprints. They aren't even legitimate reprints, but mass-copied counterfeits of the real reprints. Someone in the other thread said he notified eBay, apparently in vain.
  • Who else is going to notify the winner? i'll send the winner one...

"what makes you think they are reprints?" image

Well, you could point Bert to the auction where the seller paid $25 for a stack of various Mantle counterfeits -- including the Dandee -- that Bert now wants to pay $3,228 for.

If he insists on paying for them after the warnings, he has no one to blame but himself.
  • I actually sent him that auction in my mail, but didn't get a response from him. He has a few good samaritans - if he chooses to ignore us, well, we've done we can...

<<< Refunds are done for good reasons only, such as description (not category) was not met with some reasonable documentation, please contact us first. Shipping is not refunded. Returns must be received 14 days after auction ends. Shipping on larger checks held 14 days to ensure funds reach our account, postal and other reputed money orders and certified checks mail out immediately. >>>

I always "love" the refund policy with scammers. Like it really has any meaning whatsoever - LOL. No matter what they say or how cleverly they word things, they ain't giving your money back no matter what.

He responded to me- i dont think he is going to buy them...

even if they were real with that condition i doubt they are worth it....the dodgers sluggers card looks trimmed....as do the others...why would a novice spend 3000 on beat up cards when he can get a real graded mantle for that....maybe a 53 mantle....i dont get it!!!

Also got a response from buyer:

Actually got confirmation before bidding that I could be a local pick up so if he backs down on that I have the email that says
Local pick up is ok .I did check history did not see the reprints as I was very leary, I made it very clear to him it was cash and carry.

something dont seem right with this buyer.....his response to asking about the sellers name and address:

I have his name and phone number he says I can call him any night
between 7 and 9 just went thru all his stuff mantles were way down there I only
bid only after went thru most of his history, saw some bidders I am
fimilair with and also after local pick up was confirmed. From what I saw of the
mantle the thicknees of the card seemed to thick for the reprint. I
greatly appreciate the info I have been at this for years and have not been
burned yet lets hope this is not the first time.

I didnt ask for the time he was to call him..i wanted to know the name and addy of this guy to see if he was my next door neighbor....INTERESTING.......

If you were at this for year....you would have known u cant buy a 52 mantle on ebay that is not graded....and then after we tell him he bought reprint mantles and give him the link he still seems hopefull it is not "From what I saw of the mantle the thicknees of the card seemed to thick for the reprint" .......ok...let me measure the thickness from the scan.....woops..cant do it!!!.....something seems fishy......... maybe we are dealing with the seller or his friend and he overshot his wad on bidding up the item??

I agree Lothar, at this point even if he did a local pickup of the cards, is he not liable to have to buy them now since he won the auction or can he meet the seller and then look at them and say these are reprints I am not going to pay for them? I guess he could not buy them and take the negative feedback for that kind of coin.

if they are misrepresented and reprints I can assure you that the only repercussion will be neg feedback...i think thats the only repercussion whatsoever on ebay....its not like ebay will take the time to come to your house and make you write a check....

I think this whole thing stinks....wierd

Here was the buyers last response to me:

Well this guy is a total fraud he does not intend to uphold the local pick up and has all ready fabricated second chance emails to the bidder below me asking for his bid price as I have refused the bid I have made it known to the seller that I will pay cash at his door….. he has asked for me to call have tried during the time that he has asked no answer. We are submitting the fraud email to ebay. I do not buy anything over 100 dollars unless it is picked up and examined upon payment so once they agree to that I do not worry I cc the email to ebay in the case of large amounts like this.
