Looking for background info on these Ruth & Gerhig stamps

These are from a non-sport set called 1963 Famous Americans. One thing not mentioned in that blurb is that they were all factory creased, which confuses me. Does anyone know where or how they were distributed? I have no clue of what they are worth, other than what I paid. The blurb says prices can border on ridiculous, but I don't know what ridiculous means either. Has anyone ever seen them for sale before? Thanks - Josh

Wow! Great examples and super rare. Did you get them on Ebay?

They were purchased in a private transaction with a local dealer.

Super SUPER rare. I have had that same page you gave has a hyperlink in my computer since I found it some years ago as a reference for some oddball and test issues. I only saw a Ruth in the 80's that was pretty beat. The artwork for the two, or at least the Gehrig was auctioned off not too long ago, maybe on Ebay by the Topps vault but I'm not sure. I believe in the auction that they didnt even know what it was for since it only said Gehrig original art. I'll check my facts on it...
