OT: Is 1 or 10 highest when rating a member?

Sorry for the OT post, but I couldn't find this info elsewhere, and I have wondered. If I wanted to rate a fellow member, is 1 the best, or is 10. Thanks for any info.

Yes. Nobody really seems to knows and nobody really seems to care.

Generally, a #5 is considered OK.

That's why I took the voting off mine years ago. That way I don't have to think about it.

The rating means nothing but its direction often has a small meaning.

For a while I had mine turned on (because it was on by default). By the progression of average scores I realized I received nothing but 1s and 10s. Then I turned it off.

Since half the folks voting think 10 is best and the other half

thinks 1 is best, a 5,is actually as close to a maximum grade as one can get.

    General rule:

if there are a discrete number of things, ranked in order, the lower number is better.
for example, if there were only 10 members, I'd rather be #1 than #9 or 10

if there are an indeterminant number of things one is rating them on a standard scale of 1-10, then 10 is best.
Thus, I think 10 is best, for posters you want to rate "high"

1 is worst, vote 1 for posters you don't like

now click on me and give me a 10, dammit! image

Both 1 and 10 are the highest number you can achieve.

It just depends upon what your desired goal is.

and therefore a po-01 is much more desireable than a MS-70 or a PR-70, and don't let anyone tell you different.

Just like the coin grading scale, the highest number is the best. Unfortunately this isn't spelled out anywhere, so I think many people believe 1 is the best. So if you're around a 5 I think you're alright in most people's minds. image

here's the answer for those too lazy to look it up.

    Uncle Wiggly

This is on option the member can activate themselves, if they wish but it's not required. It comes with the software and we've never stated that one was better than the other. Some like being number 1 while others feel like a perfect 10.

    It's all in the perception.

I'd be very concerned if I got a ten rating from this group. image
