Hell, make 'em really suffer. Have them call AOhelL customer support to drop service.

It was impossible for me on the web site so I used the 1-800 number. I had to dial around 20 times to get thru. I was getting all sorts of recorded answers like, the Mint's closed today, all operators are busy, call another time, goodbye! Finally I got thru and ordered 15 sets.

  • I did get through on the web site (3:58 pm) after about 15 tries.

I got on the website about 3.00 and it took about 45 min. for the order to get thru. I got 8 set providing something horrible does not happen like I get a notice from them that they lost my order or I was to late ordering or they ran out of coins --you know the regular story. Honestly I hope I don't jinx myself because I have never recieved an unacceptable item from the mint but there is alway this time. Ha HA.
  • You all have a lot of patience. I gave up after 2 minutes. I called 1-800-MINT and placed my order 2 minutes after that.

I got my 25 sets ordered a few weeks ago through the subscription. No big deal today for me.

Better yet, they should be forced to use their website to obtain their paychecks every payday.

I just ordered 10 sets via the web - no problems at all.
  • I just ordered 20 on the web no problem either.

The IT people are the little guys that take the abuse here. Take it from a web master that runs a corp server with a cisco load balancer it takes money from the big guys to buy the hardware to overcome this issue. When you go to Ebay or Amazon you aren't going to any one server but a virtual server that has a director that takes you to where you want to go.....this all cost money and maybe the Mint Director should look into putting a major upgrade into the budget.image

While ttown may be partially correct, I know, from experience, management won't just buy new technology for technologies sake.

The "little guys in IT" need to collect data (shouldn't be difficult) and prove ROI for such technology improvements (again, shouldn't be difficult).

The IT guys need to take this bull by the horns and show management what is going on, then make the technology recommendation and I would believe the purchase would be possible. Of course, I don't work there, so it is possible that the powers to be won't listen, but it surely won't start at the management level. It must start at the level of the little guy that sees the pain that happens everytime a new product is released and the performance goes into the toilet.

You should just"chill" and wait until tomorow when all the flury of activity will die down. You will still be able to buy as many as you want. They will probabley mint more if you would be willing to buy them.image

How do you fire contractors, all the good government employees we let go for contractors. You Pay MORE and get less.
  • ttownttown Posts: 4,472 ✭✭✭
This is hardly new technology and were talking the goverment here. I collected data on my project for over 5 years before they did anything about our issues. When it comes to spending large sums of money nothing works better than heat at the top and major outages to get them to listen. I've been in IT for 30 years and the Admins get all the blame and none of the credit. Now that I manage my group I take it to upper the managers, good think I'm not starting out it's a fools game.

Nothing like asking them if they "fell lucky"? I warned you and it's your choice.........that seems to be the best approach at my fortune 500 company. They don't like to make big $$ decisions or get into the line of fire and this backs them into it no matter the choice.

These are the same people that want to show you they are saving money. Have you noticed even the mint has outsourced to India? Logic has nothing to do with business to people under presure to make budget and money for a company, I wish it did.

Funny you should bring this up. The company I worked for outsourced me after 22 years to save money. Now they pay more for less. Where we busted our butts and worked hard for the company the new contract give us 63 days to resolved an issue. It's not realistic to have an open issue for 63 days but that's the only way they could save a few $$$. The company is so diced up in contractors the system I took care of end to end now has at least a half dozen groups turning one screw with mixed results. Someday these companies are going to wake up and take control over their domain!

They keep me around to interface with India. Those people are book smart but can't think out of the box. It's like someone that reads about fixing a car and kid that worked on them all their lives and go into the field, experience wins hands down. If getting certified was all that I'd tell my kids to skip college, those types can memorize for a test but couldn't fix jack.
