RE: U.S. Mint website orders ??

I see that a few U.S. Mint website ordering threads are popping up today with frustrations about site lagging and non-supportive customer service.

My question is "Why don't you simply use the subscription services to place your orders waaaaay ahead of time"?

Is the rush to buy right now going to mean first strike coins and higher quality? Will the mint ship in the same order as produced? Just wondering ....thank you Kellyimage

I'm all subscribed..5 uncirculated and 5 silver proof sets. Did it a few weeks ago.
  • Personally I don't think it matters when you order. I doubt you'll get better sets just cause you ordered today, rather than in three months, when they will still be available.

My personal experience with the subscriptions is that it does not always go through. I used to be subscribed to these subscriptions only to find that on the first day of ordering, the subscription had not been processed. So I guess the question is, when are they processed and will you even get your subscription filled on the first day?

Now as far as the website goes, they are slowly sinking down hill. I simply do not understand how a site that brings in millions can be so dang slow or beat up on so easily.

Option 2 on the mint line now just hangs up on you and processing web orders just brings the quick check out page back up or refers you to call the 1-800 number which either cannot answer your call or hangs up on you. So much for getting the new unc sets.

Must I say that I am getting really frustrated in dealing with these characters! imageimageimage

I've been on the subscription service for five years. Mine usually ship after other folks on this board have received thier sets that were ordered the day the sets went on sale. I think the subscription service just means that you will get the sets, not when.

    TW,

    Not my point.

Why don't people make use of the subscription services to avoid the last minute problems that always occur ?

  • I don't know if first strike counts. I was probably one of the first to recieve the buffalo nickel rolls and when they came they were all in bad shape. I just order now when it's convenient. The sets will come when they come. Ordered my mint sets this morning, the mint was very slow, probably many many orders comming in...
  • SS,
I also am a subscriber....but I was just suggesting that perhaps some order early and go through this agony, thinking they will get "first strikes" or something like that. Perhaps some think that their sets will be better if they order early. I was simply trying to think of why someone would go through that process. Just a theory.

The reason I order on the first day has nothing to do with First Strikes, I just do not want to wait 6 or 8 weeks to get the order. Or worse yet, have them sellout and go into back orders!

Whatever change they made in the past has really gotten their site screwed up! A public business would have gone bankrupt! image

I am a subscriber and I noticed that some other here that ordered on the first day available received their sets before I got mine. This mint distribution is really crazy once they send the orders to distribution it falls into a third parties hands to fullfill at least with the rolled coins.

History does show that IF a change is made during production, the early coins are ususally rarer.

Plus as others have said, a sell out could happen.

I don't subscribe because I may change what I want to do.
