Buffalo Grading Help Please

Any thoughts on grade for this one? The black spots on the rim are not real, but rather my ineptitude with photoshop.

I think it is better than most of the previous posters

how much luster is left? is it MS with a weak strike?

Xf easily, although I like to see a little more distintive horn, but that is due to strike, not wear.

Thanks, Guys. I was undecided between VF-30 and EF-40. Full horn and good rims, but wear on the hip and on the obverse braid probably makes it VF.

Looks xf. You have a "spot" issue on the braid and the forehead, but I can't see this coin grading lower than xf.

  • Commercial XF40 if it has a full horn. The tail is not very clear and the horn's tip is somewhat indistinct, but if it is full then it's XF.

An argument could be made for VF-30 since it is a weak strike.

The total wear (missing metal) isn't a lot greater than a very low grade XF.

Even without the obverse spot I'd be hesitant to pay more than VF-20 money for it.

If it were a '36-D you'd have trouble wholesaling it as a good because there is wear on the date and is not full date.

It's very close to XF. Tail shows on the hip. Head is a little flat from strike. Overall, I'd say it is a solid VF-35 but would, or could, pass for an XF.

    Hope this helps.
