I still think Jeter is yet to have his best year. Over his 10 years he has been a model of consistency with about 180 hits or more in each year His seasonal average per 162 games is a terrific 205 hits:

The only year he had less than 180 hits (159) was in 2003 when he separated his shoulder and was out for a little over one month. He still batted .324 and barely missed the AL Batting Title. If Mueller hadn't been a wimp and played the entire last game I think he would have. Here comes the Bosox fan posts. LOL.

If he stays healthy and remains a Yankee he will be the first to have 3,000+ hits as a Yankee, something very special when you look at all the Super Stars (not Ruth, Gehrig, DiMaggio, nor Mantle) who have played for this storied franschise.

I have to agree that Jeter is quite a player. In this age of MLB, a player like Jeter can be overlooked when guys are bashing 800 foot home runs, or trying to knock the ball out of a pitchers hand ...
