1979 Topps Baseball Cello packs......Is $10.00 a good price?

A friend of mine that has a card store just sold me a few cello packs of 1979 Topps baseball cards for $10.00 each. I think that is more than a fair price or am I wrong. He has a lot of product from the early to mid 1980's. How about $8.00 for 1982 Baseball grocery packs and $10.00 for Topps rack packs. I have known him for about 20 years and I know his product is not searched.

By the way, I did open one of the cello packs and ot a very nice George Brett that may grade a 9.

    Hi Bob

I've seen them go for more on ebay. I would be too scared of the brutal centering from that year to bust any raw!

Seems like a nice buy though!

If you know that they are unsearched and yielding nice cards, it's more than a fair price. The price you see on ebay for stuff is sometimes a little low due to lack of knowledge about the seller and that the material may be tampered with. All of the prices you listed are fair if you can get a decent amount of mint cards.

Not a bad price - cello boxes from 1979 go for $300 - $400 a box, if you can find them. I had a little over half a box (15 cello packs) from an old break that I never finished - I sold it on Ebay recently for $250.

Truth be told - I am really working hard on the 1979 set. I had this particular cello box for quite some time, but as many people know, cellos don't always produce the best cards for grading. I don't know why I never finished opening the box...but, since I bought a few 1979 rack boxes this year, I wanted to recoup some dollars I spent on them.

With my luck, the buyer probably uncovered a beautiful, well centered Ozzie Smith in one of those cellos... image

CT, yep.... I have stayed away from 78 cellos since early on. Racks and wax for me!! With that said, no way I could stop busting. I am too weak! Making the proper buy is important with me since the wrappers are gonna fly no matter ...

If I may chime in... Steve at BBCExchange has them for $15 and he sells nice stuff for decent prices. So at 50% less than BBCExc, I'd have to say yes, good price! But, as others here have stated, cellos are usually not the best way to find very high grade cards.
