1975 TOPPS BRETT RC PSA 9 (DSL) MINT!!!

I GUESS THE CARD IS CENTERED IF YOU ONLY MEASURE THE TOP LEFT AND BOTTOM RIGHT MARGINS. WHY DOESN'T PSA JUST GO TO A "LS" QUALIFIER FOR THEIR CARDS (LARGE SUBMITTER).Text
Always looking for High Grade Pete Rose @ Mint 1975 Topps

Good grief. Are we going to start this again? Give it a rest. Please.

"thats the ugliest damn brett ive ever seen...."

If that's the case, you ain't seen much Loth. Come on guys, let it rest. I was really happy that the DGF "nice card" thread finally died. Grading cards will always be SUBJECTIVE because humans are doing the grading. Not saying that it is ideal or even fair, but it is what it is.

The Brett doesn't really look too bad to me. There is a tilt, but it's still a nice card IMHO.

Seriously, I was being facetious. I know that you know cards. Good grief, grow up. Rookie? Okay, you are so cool. Sometimes, I wonder how some of you guys make it through each day. image

Why do threads like this one stir up such a hornet's nest? If the subject being discussed doesn't interest you then just drive on. It's on topic, it's sportscard related... what's the big deal?

    Boo
I was wondering the same thing? Why, sometimes, the vitriolic rhetoric. Personally, I prefer to steer clear of heated discussions, like these, about grading.

My best guess - many people have substantial sums of cash tied up in something that could plummet to the earth with a resounding echo of valueless crap.

We're not solely arguing about grades, as such IMO. Nothing can stir the emotions like an argument over money.

Man you have not been here long have you?? Dont talk smack unless you want a reply....maybe your the one who should GROW UP and simply state your OWN opinions.

A better reply would have been: "Personally I like the Brett and realize that grading is subjective" DONE.

No personalization whatsoever....Just some tips CHIEF.

I've gotten worse 9s from PSA and I'm not a large submitter. Centering I think is borderline, but no worse than this 78 Carew.

Breaking news: PSA does not penalize cards for diamond cuts, per se, resulting in many unappealing 8's, 9's and even 10's. It doesn't matter if the card is on one of my quarterly 20-card invoices or one of DSL's many mega-invoices.

Because of (a) the same topic being brought up over and over and (b) the perception that somehow large submitters receive preferential treatment gets tiresome to many of us.

It's funny that we never see someone posting 'look at how low of a grade DSL/4SC got! This 8 should definitely be a 9!'

For every one of these perceived overgrades I am sure there are 10 undergrades.

First off, I collect cards because I enjoy doing so, not as a way to boost my own ego. If it wasn't pathetic, it would be quite funny that your self-esteem is so closely tied in to your vaunted card-collecting savvy and tremendous board experience.

News flash: just because you have been a member of an internet forum longer than someone else doesn't give you the right to be condescending. We are all very proud of your board tenure (though I doubt anyone is any prouder than you are).image Good luck in the future.

Talk about being "proud" - I put up two bat racks today that I picked up from Sports Display and they great!

This is an example of the rack. Very nice.

Yawie is correct. I see the tilt in the card, but I have seen many even worse than that getting an unqualified 9.

mintyfresh - You started a thread on January 29 in which you stated :
"I'm in the process of cracking out all of my psa cards to crossover to SGC, GAI, and BGS."

If you're not collecting PSA graded cards anymore why bother to start all of the following threads this month ?

May 3 thread started by mintyfresh wondering if a PSA slabbed card was trimmed
May 5 thread started by mintyfresh whining about DSL
May 14 thread started by mintyfresh whining about DSL
May 27 thread started by mintyfresh whining about DSL

It's obvious that you care almost nothing about sports cards and are only here to bash PSA and stir up trouble.

In your January 29 thread you also stated : "Well thanks for the memories PSA but its time to move on."

So move on already ... image

Minty, did you actually measure the centering before you started your whining? I counted pixels, and even at the worst point of centering, it comes out at 42/58, well within PSA 9 standards. I agree it ain't purty, but it's still a 9.

Centering is OK, just a bit of a diamond cut, very common even on high grade PSA cards.

There's Mint and then there's Mint. If you find a '75 Brett with 9 corners, perfect centering, zero tilt, no fisheyes, those are the ones that fetch $750+ ... The more typical PSA 9 Brett has Mint corners but one or more of those faults, and sells for less than $600. Less than perfect centering and tilts are magnified by the '75 design, and of course fisheyes have no place to hide with those colored borders. PSA seems pretty forgiving of the faults on 1975, as long as the corners are 9-worthy. Buy the card, not the .......
