Oh Aulde One, the coins in the registry are weighted. You need to have nice keys - the double punched 1859's (#1 and #2) and the 1891's. Then it comes down to the brass 1859. All are very tough coins in high grades. A VF brass '59 just sold for $22,500 Canadian. If I had seen it first, I would have bought it. Alas.

I had no idea they were weighted like that, but I suppose it makes sense.

I learn something new here every day !!! image

Is it the one from J&M coins?

Yes, they posted it online and I called a day too late. image Just means I got to "make" one better than VF.

Rob - it's a pleasure seeing those killer sets. I've given up trying to be #1 - my pockets are not deep enough.

I thought Willamette's set couldn't be beat then BAM Melron shows up. Wow!

But, I'm still buying nice raw coins and submitting them. I have 27 vacationing in Newport Beach at the moment and another 22 sitting here. When the 27 return, my set will be missing the '59 brass, '59 DP1, and '91sdsl: after the 22 only the '59 brass.

    Did you see NEN's '12 PCGS65RD at $549 open / $625 BIN?

I have always tried to post them here and also on the registry. I know Willamette, so I will try to encourage him to do the same. Melron is, I think, a Candian dealer whom I do not know, so we'll see what he does.

I think he's Sean Isaacs(?) of Alliance Coin of Ottawa.

Gene - That's where the e-mail address goes. The Alliance Coin website also talks about the purchase of the Belzberg DP#1. The only question is whether Isaacs owns the coins himself or is the agent for another owner. - Rob

Interesting. I wonder if this set will be sold in the near future, as it is getting publicity just by being in the registry.
