Your First Baseball Glove

I know I'm dating myself, but my first glove was a Stan Musial four-finger model (Model PML, I think!) that my dad bought for me......let's hear some memories about your first glove......did you spend that first night lathering it up with saddle soap and then wrapping it with a few heavy rubber bands to form a perfect pocket?

    GREAT quection DirtyDog48,

Mickey Mantle Rawlings child's glove, vintage 1961. I remember it came with a Black and White photo of the Mick with a facsimile signature on both the photo and glove. I wish I still had the glove. It would probably be worth big buckos now. My brother had one too. My second glove, which I still use, is a 1972 vintage Spaulding Mel Stottlemyre glove.

You know there are plenty of vintage collectors out there:

Billy Williams Rawlings. Saved for 8 weeks for it, the first nite my puppy chewed it up and I played 2 seasons of little league with a nearly fingerless glove. Finally bought a Boog Powell 1st basemans glove, still have it. A couple of years ago I was given a Wilson A2000, which I use now when playing catch with my son.
Still like Rawlings the most, but for no particular reason. Maybe because that is what Brooks used.

Always looking for Topps Salesman Samples, pre '51 unopened packs, E90-2, E91a, N690 Kalamazoo Bats, and T204 Square Frame Ramly's

My first was a Mantle Rawlings glove. Put a ball inside it and put it under my mattress while I was breaking it in.
Proud of my 16x20 autographed and framed collection - all signed in person. Not big on modern - I'm stuck in the past!

My first was a no name one pulled out of the garage. My dad used it for softball before I was born. It had his name in big
letter across the front and was way too big, but I didn't care, I used it for years in my back yard pretending I was Mike Schmidt in the
    World Series!

    LOL
