Every time I scan a Morgan in an NGC holder, it looks lousy.

scanners suck period for capturing a coins luster....

but, before you scan put something under the slab and have it angled alittle...

You will NEVER get a decent scan of a coin. Buy a digital camera and do yourself (and us) a favor.

Try increasing the brightness. When I shoot coins in NGC holders, I have to increase the exposure compensation.

I also put a piece of black velvet over the propped up slab, and over the scanner glass. I know, sounds kinda kinky.
It has helped me in getting a more accurate scan. I don't know the specifics of why, but something to do
with shielding the harsh light or preventing flash or something. You can actually get a bit of luster as well.

But you need a high quality scanner like the Ebson Perfection Photo.

Send it to one of the skilled image takers. I have recently been enlightened to the fact that there are many as I'm sure you are aware.

Dizzyfox is right. Carl or Jeremy will take great pictures for you (probably many other board members offer the same service)

I found this too, except with just leaving the lid up, that gives you a black background, and for whatever reason, always made the scans come out better
