My '64 Pete Rose

Well, i'm not sure what this card will grade out but maybe some folks here can look it over and provide some insight. Would this possibly be a PSA 6 or 5?

I had to get a new hosting service to post the scans...

You know, I've never noticed it before, but there's a bit of resemblance between Pete Rose and Willie Mays. Are they related?

    7 OC or 5 NQ
  • Thanks A761506. So that NQ would drop it down 2 grades?

Agreed again - the top bottom centering must be 80/20 to make an unqualified 6 and that looks to me like it's off more than that. Try measuring it. I'd be surprised if that's a 7, even with a qualifier.

That bottom border really looks rough. That alone doesn't hurt the grade, but when you combine it with the O/C, I bet you get a 5.

  • Thanks for the feedback. So what does SMR show for PSA graded values with a 5 and 6?

    I know SMR on a 6 is 120. I got $115 for mine when I sold it.

By my calc you are 80.2/19.8 TB centering on the front. Eye appeal is good, so if you get the friendly "eye-appeal" adjustment, it's a 6 centering. a 7OC is probably a good call, but I think a 6 without the qualifier is very possible. (Assuming the surface has no wax stains or other defects or anything)

Just for reference I have your centering as follows:
    Front: 58/42 LR | 80.2/19.8 TB
    Back: 71/29 LR | 62.5/37.5 TB

Corners look like sold 7+ to me and I don't think the extra paper on the bottom is going to hurt you as long as the surface looks good and isn't chipped under magnification.

If I had to call it, I'd say a 7OC or a 6 if you ask for NQ. (I don't feel that it's a 2grade hit on that card because it's so close, so I would ask for NQ)

Just my opinion... ignore as needed. image
