    I don't think even the most casual collector with a British price guide will need a slab to indicate that the seller is promoting an overgraded coin and that it is not the rare modified effigy.

    I do agree with your point, however. If your primary conduit for coins is the internet, one must have as much confidence as possible about what s/he is getting. There are far too many white collar overgraders on ebay (this case was a blue collar overgrading).

    Perhaps we could rationalize that grade for him. Pennies have not been legal tender since 1971. Therefore, it has not circulated for at least 34 years. Why, that's almost uncirculated!

    English pennies are a bit smaller than a US bust half - larger than a Kennedy half but smaller than a silver dollar.

    I use bust half 2x2's for my GB pennies - they work great!
