The Price of A Pedigree, or How I saved $500 on my new 1839 Silly Head Large Cent

I needed a 1839 "Silly Head" large cent in MS63 (OK - I didn't need it, but you know what I mean)
So looking around Superior had one listed for $1,000 on their web site with the "Ron Adam" Pedigree and had it listed on eBay numerous times for $960
Now I don't know Ron Adam or ever heard of him, but I'm sure he's a fine upstanding individual, but not worth $500 to me to own a coin from his collection.
So I got my new NGC MS63 Silly Head from JJ Teaparty for $470 and saved $500

Do you think the coin knows it's without pedigree?
Well done....Mike
Glossy brown early copper RULES!
Anybody else here actually prefer it over red, or is it just me?
BTW, congrats on the money saving purchase!!!!!!!

You're not the only one. Given the choice between a glossy brown and a mint red at the same price I'll take the brown. I don't find red attractive at all.
David Hall has a PCGS MS65 RB for $5750
Personally, I think the brown looks nicer.
