Why do people make up things to sound important ??

When you know better. I was showing off my pocket piece. the 1911 barber half. Well I handed it to one of my co workers who had claimed she knew about coins. She looks at it and said. " I had a bunch of new ones." I just said .."really" and then she said "we also have all the state quarters from that tv show" they will be worth alot someday. I just said thats great and went back to work...

Then, tell them how much something I have is worth and watch their faces

my pocket piece is a bent,burnt and definitely good 1904 Morgan- each time I pull it out to roll it between my fingers- I get the comments - I have a few of those that my grandad left me- so I ask to see them- tell em to bring em in- that I kinda collect the coins- they do- and then tell me mine looks like junk - until I yank out a few ms66's that I have - then they kind of drop jaw and come up with reasons that gramps may have bought from the guys on TV- because he had oldtimers disease. It is funny when you think about the Hollis guy.

They are everywhere. I've worked with thousands of people over the years that always have more, seen more, done more than me. You can either ignore them or join them. Just make up a better story than thiers. I used to work with a guy that knew everything about cars because he had so many and worked on them all. So a bunch of us nuts got together and made up a car for the fun of it. We started to tell our car expert all about it and he jumped right in and started to tell us all about that car. We all just walked away laughing. Next time tell that co worker about the thousands of old coins you have at home all dated around 300 to 500 BC. Make sure you mention the BC stamp after the date.

Nah.....Gil, next time, just start a thread about the state quarters, the TV shows, and the prices....then, give the link for the forum and that thread to them....tell them to enjoy the reading about their $$$$$ coins
