Shill bidding

This should be pretty obvious. It seems like the new Chinese sellers of fake coins that have recently invaded Ebay are helping eachother out if the feedback score gets too low. Check this feedback listing:

They seem to buy a lot of coins from eachother, those Chinese sellers imageimage ... unless it's one single seller suffering from multiple personalities!

  • I reported it to Ebay. Let's see what they will do about it. Personally, I would like to see these sellers of fake coins disappear permanently. There is enough fake rubbish on the market as it is.

I doubt that ebay will do anything. There has been a Chinese seller hawking fake SA silver for several weeks now that has been reported every time he lists his auctions and ebay has done absolutely nothing about the guy...he also openly admits that he is using the shipping to make up the difference in 'value' of the coins....

    examples:

    1947 - QEII Obverse?!?!?!
    1958 - off-center

Just as an aside, ebay may have shut the guy down at least once, becuase the seller's name is different than the last time these same coins were listed.

  • £15 for shipping?! image

I find it frustrating that it is so easy for these people to just keep selling their fake coins. When I first started buying on Ebay four years ago I had been browsing the place for a while and had come to the conclusion that it's not for inexperienced collectors. You burn your fingers easily. I must say that things haven't changed to the better. That is sort of disappointing.

£15 is light - there are a number of the Chinese sellers that start thier auctions at .99 and charge better than $100 for shipping (I have seen a couple that were in the $250-$350 range).
