Found a very interesting roosevelt dime while sorting through some junk coin at work today........
it's a 2000 (I think), it's in sorta rough shape. What makes it extremely interesting is the SHAPE of
the "coin". If you took a "D" and laid it down on the flat side, this is what the shape is similar to.
On the obverse you cam make out LIBE and bottom part of the R....N GOD E TRUST...mint mark P...
and 200_. You get the idea. There's a hint of reeding on the crowned part of this piece of "metal".
It's a pretty sweet looking minting error. Anybody have any idea how common something like this is?

How straight is the line where the coin part is missing? What does the rim look like opposite of that missing part?

Unfortunately, I have no way of showing you guys a pic (no digital camera, or scanner)
The "bottom" is a little wavy, with the corners slightly higher than the middle where the
bottom curve of the coin would/should be. I forgot to mention, the obverse is "raised"
where it's been stamped. It's only 5/8 of an inch high and 3/4 of an inch long.

If the coin is warped so that the obverse is convex and the reverse is concave, then it's not likely to be a mint error. The only error I can think of that would remotely take on this shape would be an edge strike on an already-struck coin. Were that the case, you should see die-struck design on at least one pole.
