OT -- Questions about Paypal's shipping option?
I want to try using Paypal to ship most of my Ebay auction lots, but they dont tell you which labels to use on Paypal's site. Does anyone know which Avery label is necessary?
Also, it lists First Class Mail Parcel as an option-- can a normal bubble mailer holding 1 coin be shipped this way? And is this the most cost-effective?
And finally, it seems that the most insurance you can purchase thru Paypal is $200 is this correct?
Thanks for the help,

TPN

If you use the full sheet sticker paper then you waste a half sheet each time.
What i've done in the past is cut each sheet in half and run it through the printer. When it prints the label, and spits it out, it will grab another sheet of plain paper and finish printing the info page.
Another option is too simply use plain paper, cut the label out, and clear box tape it to the package. (tape over the entire lable, not just around the edges) I have had zero problems doing it this way.
P.S. Yes, $200 is the max insurance coverage when purchasing online.
You have to go to the post office to purchase anything higher.
<< <i>Another source of labels is UPS. Open an account with them and they'll send you the labels for free. >>
Though the labels are specifically for UPS shipping, so to use them for other purposes is, at the least, unethical.

I knew someone would say that. At least it's not illegal, like it is with flipping Prio Mail boxes inside out

UPS doesn't care. I asked them last time I ordered labels. Of course, you have to trim off the bottom with the UPS info.

This is absolutely the most economical way to do this. I've shipped no less than 1,500 packages this way and have never had a problem. I cover the entire label with clear shipping tape so that the ink can't get wet & smear. I use the USPS delivery confirmation thru the paypal system at a cost of $.13 per package. Paypal requires some type of tracking anyway. I ship every item in a bubble wrap envelope (or box when necessary) with a piece of styrofoam taped to each side of my folded receipt, directly over the item, so that it meets the USPS 3/4" minimum thickness requirement for 1st class parcel w/ delivery confirmation, and provides extra protection of the coin at the same time. Of the over 1,500 packages shipped, I've had only one returned for not meeting the minimum thickness requiremnts. The package had obviously made it to CA, from FL, and appeared to have been run over by a steam roller, (the styrofoam peanuts were paper thin). Once. Now I stamp FRAGILE, twice, on both sides of EVERY package.
Using PayPal shipping I find that I can print the shipping label, package the coin and have it ready for the next days mail in less than 5 minutes. Put it the mail box and its gone. PayPal also allows you to track the shippment.
I hope this has been some help.
I've been told I tolerate fools poorly...that may explain things if I have a problem with you. Current ebay items - Nothing at the moment

<< <i>So why is illegal to reuse a priority mail box by turning it inside out. I thought the government wants us to recycle. I do it all the time. >>
I'm not sure about reusing an already used Prio Mail box, but postal regulations say it's illegal to use a Prio Mail box for anything other than Prio Mail. If you order supplies from the USPS, you have to sign a statement acknowledging this.
<< <i>You can't tape over the barcode, which leaves it vulnerable to ripping. The most secure and economical method is what I described above for plain paper. I also do put clear tape over the ship to address to be safe. >>
Sure you can. I have been doing it for years with zero problems.
When you tape over the bar code you just have to be sure you don't get any wrinkles or bubbles in the tape.
I tape over the entire label. works great. The scanners have no trouble reading it.

I've shipped over 1,500 packages and never had one disappear, nor returned, because of a taped over label.
As long as the scanner can read the barcode, it's good to go.
