PSA Grading

Based on my GAI Grading post, I pose the question on why did you choose to buy PSA graded cards and not the others. I myself did not really research any of the other grading companys except for what I read on these forums. I knew that PSA always brought in the higher prices and the big dealers always seemed to use them, so if they are good enough for them, then why not me.

  • 1) PSA gets premium prices for the most part
    2) Established reputation
    3) Longevity in the market
    4) Easier to resell.

A vibrant and competitive set registy.

Availability of already graded cards for my sets.

When I upgrade a card, I can easily resell my old one.

Last, but not least, there's a bunch of cool people who collect PSA graded cards. image

  • I mostly collect modern (91 Football), and PSA was the first graded card I got from "the big four". Now, while I like SGCs holder the best, and I like GAIs flip the best, and BGS has the best resale when it comes to modern cards, I sleep comfortably at night knowing my PSA cards are 100% authentic. The Set Registry got me hooked (like it did everyone else), and PSAs longevity and standing in the graded cards arena couldn't be ignored. Not to mention, their unbiased SMR (which is the most accurate price list I have seen compared to realized value on the bay).

I simply couldn't go wrong with PSA.
  • If I'm selling a valuable card, I'll go PSA. If I'm buying any card, I'll go SGC,GAI, or BGS. I see no reason to pay more for a card that's in the same condition.

    Right back at ya!

Also for those who have been collecting for a while - PSA was the best and did the best job of promoting themself in the early 90s - the first big company ASA shot themselves in the foot with some unsavory practices and others just came and went.
