1986 football

Does anyone know the distribution or how many of each player could be expected out of a 1986 football vending case?

I'd guess the average is around 1.25x each player would be the average. So, 24 vending boxes x 1.25 = 30. However, it depends on the runs encountered in the boxes you are opening. It seems that an average vending box will yield between 200-300 different cards depending on the runs you hit. Are you thinking of buying the case that Steve Hart has for sale?

I'm sitting here, looking at all the new stuff he got in and just drooling...

I'm not even sure what this is...an uncut sheet case?

I've seen these before on ebay. I think Topps took some cards that didn't make it into packs for whatever reason and threw them in cases raw. Very odd and only specific to one or two years of football that I'm aware of.

Actually cut card cases are quite common across years and sports. We used to buy from Rotman's when they were more a wholesaler than an auction house and they had tons of that stuff then (1988-1991).

    Did I leave anything out?
  • So are these cards just crammed into a box or are they organized in some manner?

I have info on cut card cases but I can't find it.

Here is what I remember from memory. They contain certain sheets and there are many doubles. Also if I am remembering right they can and normally do contain mis-cut cards.

If I can find the info I have on them I will post it.
  • Check this Link for additional info on cut card cases. And this link has a good picture of how the cards are packed. image
