My 1893-s Barber half

This is my pcgs AU-58 Barber half, one of my favorites. What do you think?

Real nice, I wish you had a larger image. The reverse looks semi prooflike, and the obverse is exceptionally free of any marks. Looks like a real nice strike.

That is an exceptionally nice Key date Barber Half. Like Dan said, the reverse looks semi-proof and the coin has the nicest color. I should have just got in the shower and gone to work. Now I am going to be jealous all day long!

Yes, the reverse is prooflike or at least semi-prooflike. The obverse is also a bit semi-prooflike though not as much as the reverse. The coin is nearly mark-free with a totally original color. Although I am not a Barber collector, I did want one really nice, scarce example from this series.This has been in my collection for several years now and I still enjoy looking at it.

Excellent example. The image is a tad too small and I would love to see the coin in person.

You must have had that coin for sometime, as, if it were on the market recently, you'd have a run for your money over it.

I was lucky enough to be offered one of Cary's examples, in a PCGS 55 - crack out - now reslabbed again as an AU 55.

Thanks Mike and yes, I've had it for many years. I'll try to post a bigger picture. The coin is actually a little bit brighter with more reflective fields than in the scan.
As you've noticed from my threads in the last few weeks, the standing liberty quarter is my favorite coin series.
However, when Barber halves have nice eye-appeal, they're hard to beat! Ideally, I'd like to find a matching quarter and dime of equal scarcity and beauty.

That looks like an original example of a coin that is far more difficult than most who do not specialize in this series realize. Over the years since you purchased this coin have you found any others similar in quality? I would doubt you would find many.

I too, would love to see this coin in person. Great 93-s with Pl surfaces. Great grade as well.

The most underrated grade in all of Numismatics a true Au-58

Since the prices are a bit too high now, I am not seeking any other Barber halves in that grade. I am probably going to look for a better date Barber quarter and dime to complete the type set in AU 55-58. The Barber experts in here know how hard it is to find some of the scarce dates in these grades, but I'll keep my eyes open.
