First Day Coin covers

You know, after all this time with the mint, I just realized that the first day coin covers were the first coins minted of each series. I generally just passed on them because I saw a price tag of $20. Now I am curious, since these are supposedly the first strikes, how are they in terms of quality. I have searched previous threads and found trickles of data. If you have a story about a gem piece you've found please share it. Thank you

Not all are truely first strikes since the ones for the statehood quarters didn't start until three years into the statehood quarter program ...

The first two to sell out were Delaware and Massachusetts and they quickly increased in price to $200 on eBay. The third sell out were the Pennsylvania FDC which were approaching $100 when the Mint killed the golden goose. They reopened sales of the sold out covers and prices dropped like a rock.

I own 50 unopened covers and have no idea of the coins condition.
