Told ya someone would find something to dislike
It actually fits in nicely with my screwed up coins
1829/7 half dollar (raw...I think it was/is VF30-XF40)
1955 DDO lincoln (AU58bn) I just got
1972 DDO lincoln (MS64RD) I have
1995 DDO lincoln (MS67RD) I have
now, 1942/1 merc (VF35)

I like your coin very much. If you really like the overdates then you should think about getting a nice, original ChVF 1817/3 CBH as it has a very obvious and strong overdate and the difference in years is astounding.

Interesting coin. The 1942/1 overdate is missing from my merc collection. I should have bought one 2-3 years ago before the big price explosion. PCGS did a good job grading it too.

If you like DDO --- you really need a 1934-D Peace $ VAM 3 or 4 as well -- which has some really cool double die effect!



And before you say it, I know, your coin is going out tomorrow.

I'm not really into Peace dollars (I only have a few....3 from my uncle (1921, 1922, and 1923) and then another 1 or two that are raw and not worth much.
But, I did see that really cool rainbow on the reverse one you posted yesterday! I'm making sure the metal detector is all set

And, how did you know I would mention the coin?
It isn't as much fun teasing you about it if you deflect the "attack" before I can even do it.

but, all things aside, post this "1934-D Peace $ VAM 3 or 4" for me to see....if it is really cool, and not overly expensive, it may go on my list.....



Thanks etexmike.....I hope he feels he is lucky. I don't know which path he may end up continuing on, but I do know that if someone would have bought a few coins for me 30+ years ago, it would have either kept me in the hobby the whole time (instead of just a kid buying their own coins and getting ripped off) as something to grow with and learn from, or, worst case scenario, they would be worth more right now to sell if I needed the money.

I think coins in the 1970s were not too badly priced, for the majority.

So, yes, Jr is getting some cool coins.....but they won't just be given to him all at once. It will be for birthdays and Xmas and great school grades and other cool things like that.
It will also be a graduated scale......the cheaper/easier coins will be first. The ones like the merc above and the DDOs will be for bigger/better things. I believe in earning things as well.
