Did you notice that they used PSA 9's and 10's for the most expensive vintage cards in the hobby, but on the 1982 Ripken rookie they could only round up a PSA 8?

All the cards in that book are incredible. Do you have any of the cards in the book?

Based on your reply in another thread

<< <i>t is amazing what some people spend on cards. >>

Don't you think that if one were to spend on ungodly amount on a card, one would certainly choose a high-end version for the grade?

Take for example the 1952 Mantle PSA 9 that it is on this month's calendar. That is about as close as one can get to be 9 (OC) or more accurately, perhaps a PSA 8. Would you pay a PSA 9 price for that Mantle?

Not to nitpick, but I think that Mantle is more diamondcut that OC.

I think you are right...even if I had the cash to pay for that card, I wouldn't buy that one.

The Mantle its a very nice card..not high end for the grade..but it is a Mint card.

Yes. All things being equal, I am sure most people would rather have a nicer card.

The Mantle on the calendar is not horrible. I have seen many mint 52s angled funny.
