Just like very old senile people do, they only remember the past and do not know about the present and have no future. So enjoy the past Cowboys fans because the future is for the Eagles. Ha! Ha!

Firm Prediction etched in stone. The Eagles WILL win the Super Bowl this coming season by double digits - guaranteed!

Go Eagles!!! We have without a doubt the NFL's best franchise, best owner, best coaches, best players, and last but not least BEST FANS!!!

Since 1999, you have only had 1 winning seasons and the last time you beat the Bucs was 1990! Is picking on the Eagles really any
    fun?? LOL

If the cowgirls want any respect they need to take care of the eagles....fighting the Redskins for last place can't be all that fun!

I don't think football fans outside the Philadelphia area understand the situation here. The Eagles will be better in 2005 than 2004. McNabb will have a chip on his shoulder all season for the Super Bowl comments about him quitting. The rest of the team is hungry beyond belief. TO will be back. They've got a run blocker who may turn out to be the best in the league who got hurt early last season - the Eagles will have a very good running game. Their defense will be better. They are a powerhouse which after the season is over may be compared to the 85 Bears - I'm not kidding. I'm also not kidding when I say, not a prediction, that the Eagles could, I said could, go 16 - 0 during the regular season. This team has no weaknesses. It's gonna be a great year of absolutely destroying teams and I'm going to love every minute of it!!!!!

    Go Eagles!!!!!!!!!!

The adrenaline rush of rooting for the Eagles is my drug of choice - LOL
  • AxtellAxtell Posts: 10,037 ✭✭
Its one thing to root for your team.

Quite another to say you have the potential to go 16-0 and be one of the best teams of all time, and comparing yourselves to the 85 bears, arguably the most dominant team EVER.
  • stevekstevek Posts: 28,991 ✭✭✭✭✭
If the Dolphins could do it, then so can the Eagles. Especially with the very weak NFC. Non-Eagles fans here say the gap has decreased between the Eagles and the rest of the NFC. I think the gap has actually increased. The Eagles will be more dominant this season than last. We'll know starting in about 90 days!
  • stevekstevek Posts: 28,991 ✭✭✭✭✭
About the 85 Bears - Yes, I believe the Eagles have a chance to be better.

I'd like to know what personnel the Eagles have added that will spread this gap? And if they lose TO for the year (still a possibility), you have the fact that everyone is a year older, which means a step slower.

  • stevekstevek Posts: 28,991 ✭✭✭✭✭
TO, Kearse are in their 2nd year - will improve. Trotter is "technically" in his 2nd year - will improve. The secondary is very young - will improve. Dawkins will get better. Linebackers will be better. D-Line will be better. O-line will be better - much better running game with Andrews back. I'm telling ya, this guy Andrews will be a phenomenon. Watch how many Cowboys D-players he pancakes during running plays throughout the games - it'll look like IHOP out there after each play - LOL. Eagles fullback returns. RB Buckhalter returns off an injury. McNabb will be better. No Freddie Mitchell - that's a good thing. Jimmie Johnson the D-coach just signed a four year extention - if anyone doesn't understand that he is the best defensive coach in the league then they don't understand the game of football. Kicking game - spectacular. Special teams - Best special teams coach in the league. I can go on and on and I WILL as we get closer to the season opener - it's gonna be a great, great year.

You know Axtell - the Eagles are so good that sometimes I actually feel sorry for the rest of the teams in the NFC - Nah!!

and don't forget the Eagles had NO major injuries for the first 3/4th of the season last year...you think they are going to get that lucky
    this year? nope

There goes Joey again on his injury platform ... gimme a break.

The Eagles lost Buckhalter for the year last season. He was the co-starter at RB. The year before that, the Eagles lost the entire secondary at one point or another, and had to play two rookies - Pro Bowler Lito Sheppard and soon to be Pro Bowler Sheldon Brown. I do not think there is a team in the NFL over the past three seasons that have had the amount of injuries to starters that the Eagles have had.

The Bucs lose players last year and all of a sudden they are the only team to have such "tragedy" ... they still would have stunk. Are the fans still going to the games down there? Or is there a lot of black jerseys with #7 at the game when the Falcons are in town?

How exactly do you think these players, at the top of their game, will improve? How does TO get better than he did last year?

I think Eagle fans are going to be in for a BIG shock this year...they aren't as overpowering as they think they are, and a lot of teams in the NFC have gotten better.

I see the Eagles winning the East of course, because that division STINKS, but winning 10 or 11 games tops, and falling in the second round of the playoffs.

Yes, the Eagles own MNF. Look at the stats.

Waahhhh, wahhhh, all of the Bucs receivers were injured!!!!!! That doesn't matter when you have no one to throw to them.

Here is what I saw when I lived in Tampa for two years. If the Bucs were playing well everyone wore Bucs gear to the game. If they sucked then you saw more Green Bay, Minnesota, Detroit, and Chicago jerseys, since most of the people had moved from the Midwest to Tampa anyway.

Only Miami has a worse record for fair weather fandom.

Of course Dallas is the king of bandwagon jumpers. 75% of Cowpatties fans have never been to Texas.

There are a few Dallas fans on here who live in the Delaware Valley, and grew up there. Shame on you, wear some green.

And Kuhlmann, how often did you have to hide in NYC when you lived there? A Dallas fan in NYC? You were lucky to get out alive, and if the Mets knew you are a Dallas fan they would ask you to change your allegiance.

No matter where I go I will always be a Philly sports fan, win or lose.

While I abhor the Vikes (sitting in their division for years will do that), I think by far the Vikings are the most improved team in the NFC. No distractions by Moss in the locker room, huge improvements on the defense. If they can upgrade their coach they might actually get to the super bowl! image The Bears and the Lions will make serious strides as well, and the NFC north will be the toughest division in the NFC.

The team however I would look out for will be Arizona. Yes, they lost 10 games last year...but Denny Green is a proven WINNER who has accumulated a ton of talent in the desert.

The Cowboys and the Bucs BOTH got better in the offseason...both drafted very well (the 'boys had a great draft) and if you don't think ANY team in the NFC got better you are DELUSIONAL.

Axtell - Whew! - You've got to stop spending too much time on the porn websites and start spending more time at NFL.com

Even 100 year old ladies in nursing homes who know nothing about football know that players usually show their biggest improvement under a new system in their second year - whether it's a rookie or a veteran. The only exception is aged veterans who are over the hill - the type that the Dallas Cowboys sign for quarterbacks.

I am glad you have the hard, scientific facts to back these ridiculous claims up. Yeah, people in Tampa don't support their team...that's why the stadium is sold out of season tickets and has a waiting list 50,000+ long? Yeah, fair-weathed fans.

And Philly fans are perfect right? Philly fans act like NY fans but without the CHAMPIONSHIPS (and no, a title from 1960 doesn't count!) Eagle fans think they have the right to boo whenever everything doesn't go exactly their way (just like Yankee fans), but at least the yankees have the expectation-you'd think Eagle fans would be used to LOSING and CHOKING their way out of big games by now!!!

"Dallas is the game's most improved team in the last two weeks. What will it mean? Not much if Bledsoe can't rise to the occasion, and if Ferguson isn't enough of a physical presence that teams struggle running the ball against the Cowboys. But they're all-March so far. "

Man I was talking about this thread...where you brought it up.

No, I do not say "forget about the past" ... the past often dictates the future. I for one, am happy being a Birds fan even w/o a Super Bowl.

I am confident they will have one soon.

As far as staying on this thread .... yeah, people never go off on a tangent Axtell. Sorry if I was the first.

OT for all you Eagles, Giants, and Redskin fans:

Doesn't it seem that most dallas "fans" you know only seem to put their hat on when the team is winning? I am not talking about the posters on these boards, I am talking about that certain guy we all know. The one who always had to be QB, but really sucked. The one who always cried, or always weaseled out of something. The one who would throw a tantrum. Or never buy the first round ...

All four dallas fans I know fit one or more of the above

After attending 5 Cowboy - Eagle games in Philly in my lifetime i can say that my friend seems to be in the minority when it comes to fans rooting for the Eagles lol

There are bandwagon fans in every sport. I can't tell you how many Redsox caps i've seen these past months

I will agree with 1420 that there seemed to be alot of bandwagoners after the Cowboys run of SB's in the 90's . It kind of bothered me because i know most of those guys weren't around to catch the 1-15 season like i was

I've been to Texas Stadium twice so far having took the tour on the field and in the training and locker rooms and will always be a Cowboys fan till the day i die , no matter how much ribbing i catch for not liking the locals lol

    << <i>Axtell - 1420 is calling you out, Philly style...you chicken??? >>

So Philly style is bland veiled 'bets' with no hint of what is being bet on? Is 'Philly style' saying 'bet me' without giving any sort of idea what type of bet is wanted?

1420-It's not just Dallas fans that are this way...you will find 'fans' of every sport who are exactly the same way. When the Rams started doing well, there was this guy who came into my shop (at the time managing a car audio shop) in head to toe rams gear...no joke. Hat, sweatshirt, t shirt, sweats...EVERYTHING. Despising the Rams as I did (and do), I shook my head and laughed. The stuff was brand new (the hat had no crease) and he just wanted to show he was a 'winner'.

You'll see it with every sport and every team that wins...I would be willing to bet you saw a ton more Red Sox hats and jerseys...Patriots gear...Pistons stuff....Yankees stuff (when they were winning). And when you call these bandwagon fans on it, they are the loudest ones to say 'I've been a fan since (whenever)'. Whereas a real fan doesn't have to justify their team, they are quiet in their knowing they are a real fan.

Personally it drives me up the wall...I actually stopped wearing my Bucs jerseys the year after they won the super bowl just so I wouldn't be associated with these clowns.

Cause you've NEVER won the big game, McNabb chokes under pressure, even adding in the best receiver in the game (TO) and monsters on defense Philly still can't close escrow?

Maybe it's time to start looking inward to find out where the fault lies? Is it Andy 'I'd give my left arm for a philly cheesesteak' Reid? Is it McNabb's inability to win the big one? Is it karma that philly's fans who boo so loudly at any possible second are being 'rewarded' with no championships?

It's hillarious that Eagle fans, when others bring up their past accomplishments, say 'don't live in the past!' yet that's what I am seeing right now from these posts. 'We're the reigning NFC champion! Dethrone us!'

And WHAT exactly does winning the NFC championship last year have to do with THIS year?

    Yes, that's right. ABSOLUTELY NOTHING.

Just like the commercial goes, everyone is 0-0. What you did last year means exactly NOTHING now.

Move on to the present (like you are so fond of saying to Bucs and 'Boys fans)...practice what you preach and all that other stuff.

Everyone thinks they know what Eagles fans are. The media overhypes it, and we laugh at that.

I have been a season ticket holder for 14 years. I have not seen any gang beatings or little old ladies getting a beer thrown on them. I have been to the Meadowlands, the ole Sombrero, and RFK and it was the exact same type of verbal abuse that would be at the Vet. Except when I was in Tampa, it was y'all ... and in New Jersey there were more f bombs. In RFK, I thought I was at the Ice Capades.

BTW Axtell, saying the Eagles are the current NFC Champs is not living in the past. That is how they will be announced at all 16 games this season.
