Card Scans for Registry

After doing some searching for posts regarding this, I am unable to find it so I ask for your help.

I want to share the joy of my sets with others by uploading scans. I haven't begun to scan the cards in yet, because I vaguely remember the names needed to be saved a certain way. Also, do I need to upload them to an off site for hosting, or does PSA host them?

As far as the naming, for example, what would I name the #5 card of Munson in my 1971 baseball set?

Either help or directing me to the thread this was discussed in would be greatly appreciated.

I am not an expert, but will try to help. You can host yourself or you they can host at around 50K max. I resize and just upload through them. You can use whatever name you want, letter or number or both, but just dont use any symbols or under scores or SPACES. gl

As for the file names, I include set, number, player and grade, which helps keeps things organized both on my hard drive and on the "List/Edit Image Files" link on the Registry. For your Munson, I'd use something like 71T005munson8 - or whatever the grade happens to be in the last spot.

Whatever you do, be sure to use a unique name for each image file, because the Registry will override previously uploaded files with the most recent file bearing that name. For example, if you just call your '71 Munson "munson" and then later upload a '72 Munson with the same name, an image of the '72 card will now appear where you intended the '71 Munson to appear. At least I'm pretty sure that's how it goes.

Keep a separate folder for "1971 Topps" and any other sets you are doing. Inside the folder name the file by the card number and that is it. I scan every card for my 78 set. CHECK IT OUT!

The only rule regarding filenames is that you can't use any non-alphanumeric characters except for underscores. If you attempt to upload a file with a hyphen in the name, for example, it will be rejected.
