100+ rolls of 1961 D cents

I have stumbled upon 100+ rolls of 1961 D cents that have been stored away in someone's basement for decade. Should I pick them up to look for highend or mintmark errors or should I get a life?

Pop report indicates 92 in MS66, none higher. Your chance of finding a 67 are remote and with the current grading climate............I'd put some away if the price is right! The Cherrypicker's Guide have no varieties listed for 61d Lincolns. Still very collectible if they are OBW rolls. Have fun!! Chris

old pop report, now it's about 106 in 66 and 1 in 67

still, i'd go through a couple of rolls to get an idea of what's in there.......

edited to add: whoops, was looking at wrong denom, manorcourtman is correct! an even better reason to take a peek in there.......

    Search them.......for shame! image

Oreville would say to buy and hold....

Oh yeah, if they've been in a Chicago basement I'd bet they are corroded as heck!!! Ask to pick a roll at random and search for lustre and lack of spots....I'm betting on corrosion-city, Windycity.

If you don't get them I'll buy them depending on the price.

These are often quite inexpensive and you can learn a lot about coins by looking
through a single bag or accumulation. These can often be done very quickly since
there sometimes just isn't anything worth bothering with. Try to save the nicest coin
from each die pair even if it's a dog. Most banks will take the rejects unwrapped.

I always try to check the books and cherrypickers guide before looking at these.
