Washington type 2 reverse question - Come on now Washington specialist

WindycityWindycity Posts: 3,469 ✭✭✭✭✭
We know there are Washington type 2 reverse quarters (from proof reverse dies) from 1956 through 1964. But who knows the rarity of each date? Would welcome a link to any article on the subject.

I was actively looking for these for several years around 1990. I never found or saw a 1956. 1957 is commonly seen in the mint sets and I still own 3-4 mint-set toned ms67's. I found 2 1958 coins, both ms62 or worse. 1959, 1960, 1961 and 1963 coins were common in rolls and I have a couple dozen of each. 1962 and 1964 exist but are far less common in rolls ( at least the rolls I looked at). I recently sold 1957, 1959, 1960, 1961 and 1963 toned examples on ebay - you can view them with my ebay sold items under seller name "zerbini" .

    Michael,

Thanks. I have found a number over the past few years but I just picked up an original 1964 roll and more than half are type 2. You can imaging I am now assuming the type 2 1964 is not particularly scarce.

    Pat,

I have been searching for these for the past few years and have found the following numbers of each date:

    Unc. Circ
    1956 4 3
    1957 7 16
    1958 5 5
    1959 22 5
    1960 4 5
    1961 2 9
    1962 8 9
    1963 24 16
    1964 15 20

Don't know how helpful this is but thought I'd share it with you.
