I blew my brains out with 2 2001 topps heritage boxes

Got 4 or 5 classic renditions, couple new age performers, and vladdy chrome. I figure I lost about 499$ opening these boxes. Why are they so expensive? edited Should I try my luck with 1993 topps finest for the refractors?

I'm thinking that just like today, the meat of the value in those boxes were the SPs. I know that the Ripken in particular is pretty valuable from that set.

BTW - I pulled a Derek Lowe #398 from 05 Heritage today - PM me if you still need it.

did you at least get a Ripken, Piazza or Keppell? Ouch that hurts but people are still looking for sp and singles, make your money on them
    and move on!

Sorry to hear about your rip.

For those who want to pick this set up - my opinion - keep the set in the "back burner" of your mind - when you go to some of the local shows - keep your eyes open - I have seen guys selling complete sets at way below beckett for cash - and you get to view the entire set for flaws and make the appropriate deal with the guy - the worst that can happen? You pass.

Then if you need upgrades - come here and see what people have left over. The boxes are just too expensive IMO. I was lucky that the PX was still carrying that stuff back in 2001 and 2002!

    Just my take.

I don't suppose you happened to pull a #342 John Wettelend did you? Last card I need for my set.
