My PSA Gem MT 10 has a flaw on back?!

I purchased a 1987 Topps All-Star Glossy Barry Bonds from Kent Sessions (Ksport66) and on the back bottom left corner the card appears to have a small lift (peeled). You can tell it is peeled up as the corner shows a grey (cardstock) color and the white of back of the card where it lifted. Not sure if this happened when PSA was sealing it or if they graded it this way. I contacted the seller (many times) and they said they would exchange and so I had sent the card back once already, only to receive the exact same card. I sent it back with a note detailing the problem, but it seems they have about 8 employees and they didn't communicate it well that I wanted to exchange it for the same card but without the corner problem. Should I be concerned, or just leave it be since it's already sealed? This is the last email I got from them and I have yet to send it back to them for the 2nd time...

You guys need to make sure you communicate between each other about what is going on.

This will be the second time I have to send the card back to you guys for replacement, so I want to make sure one of you will look at the back of the card on the lower left corner. If you don't have a replacement card (PSA Gem Mint 10), then please refund my money, please don't just send me back the same exact card. Please call me if you have any questions about this.

Do I send the card back to the 15999 P.O. Box address or the 1213 Boyles address?

Thank you.

Hello,
We have 8 employees here and have sold over 50,000 items on ebay with no problems and get as many as 500 emails a day. I also have 1,000 + PSA 10's of this card (graded a total of 9,000 pieces of this card and paid $76,000 for them) and I am PSA's largest customer for grading. We also have headlinesports on ebay, another 40,000 + transactions. Our communication process is actually pretty good. If you return the card put a note it has been returned for replacement and you are concerned with the back lower left. The 1213 Boyles St. is our warehouse and is fine for a return. Kent

  • Take it up with PSA. It isn't the seller's fault that they graded the card incorrectly.
  • I called PSA. They said they would have to see the card first. Then if it wasn't a Gem MT 10 it would be re-graded and also they said they would buy it back. I asked the person on the phone (a ladie) what's the SMR value and they didn't have it priced for these cards (Topps Glossy Send-ins). So she went on to say that one of the VPs would need to examine the situation and figure out possible options. What do you think about that?!

    Welcome!
Can you scan and isolate just the bad corner? I would like to see it.

If this ONE dealer has over 1,000 Gem Mint 10s of this card, you think there is ever going to be any shortage of anything from the 80s?!?!

Sounds like they are taking care of you well. Your lucky. Just send it back. They aren't going to get hung up on this one card since they are a high volume dealer.

I was thinking the exact same thing, GGold - and, the answer to your question is, no.

There must be a zillion graded Barry Bonds rookie cards out there, I am not sure why anyone even buys them. But, how many sellers still bill them as rare! in Ebay auctions?

    Thanks for the welcome Mike!

Here's the back, lower left quadrant of the card. The scan does reveal the flaw.

That's not one that I would want to keep either! You got dealer's choice - either the seller or PSA should take that one back IMO.

If this seller has 1,000+ PSA 10's of this card, then how many PSA 10's does the population report show in total?

PSA has graded 17540 of them and 5081 have been given a 10.
