Home PSA Set Registry Forum

Look what I found.

I just finished moving. I'm downsizing now that the kids are gone, and I found these in a closet.

I don't really remember keeping these cards because I thought I had sold my t-206 cards years ago. They are certainly not high grade, but nice nevertheless. This is the first "find" I have ever had even if they are my own cards.

I never have submitted this condition card to PSA, so wouldn't know what they would grade. My guess is PSA 3 or 4, is that correct? Should I grade them?

I also found a 1975 Topps Baseball Set in the same closet. I remember sorting a case into sets, but I thought I had sold all of those sets too. They are mint right from the case, but I have no idea how 1975 Topps are graded.null

Definately nice looking cards. Some of my best "finds" have been my own things I misplaced years ago. Pretty soon I can hide my own Easter eggs.....

    thats a really awesome find!..or re-find

I would strongly suggest to grade this small gems.

The HOF'ers should bring very nice prices even in low grade.

The mathewson is the "dark cap" variation and it should bring about 500 in PSA 4..psa 5 around 600 to 700 and anything above that over 1000+

The speaker should another 500 in PSA 4..

the "yellow" portrait chance should also be a couple of hundreds in PSa 4,same with the walsh, another couple of $100's right there, also the wadell as well, the Bender is also in this range, the jennings "one hand showing" should be about a hundred, same thing about the tinker etc etc.

My guess its around $3000...and thats a mild guess if any of the cards happen to have a rare back, then who knows.

if you get a PSA 5 or higher on a couple of cards you can also bring in way more than that. but thew condition looks more in line with PSA 3 and 4.

Not bad for something that you had basically lost for so many years!

  • Thanks for the info. The Zack Wheat card has a Sovereign back. The other cards have Piedmont and Sweet Caporal backs.

I'm entitled to some free grading, so I might as well give it a try.

No rare backs but regardless, its a very nice lot of cards...the wheat could easily be worth 200+

I have noticed some rather strong prices lately for midgrade HOF in the T-206

You might want to take that money and start another set, Give those poor REDMAN collectors a chance to catch up...LOL

  • They're catching up fine, thank you. There is one collector that has really been putting together a nice 1952 Red Man set. He hasn't shown all his new acquisitions on the registry yet, he must be planning a sneak attack right before the awards deadline. Ha.ha.

I've already started 1966 Philadelphia football and 1963 Parkhurst hockey sets. The last thing I need to do is start a T206 set!

Those look great to me, better than the PSA 3's that I have. Good luck with grading and keep me in mind for any lower grade ones.

    Topps Heritage

    1957 Topps BB Ex+-NM
    All Yaz Items 7+
    Various Red Sox
    Did I leave anything out?
  • I'm interested in the Tinker card if you are thinking of selling, either graded or ungraded.

Mr. Tinker was my great uncle and I have a small collection of his cards, none are graded or in great shape, but they have a nice personal value to me. Remind me of the nights sitting on the porch with my Grandpa listening to stories about Musial, Dizzy Dean, Medwick, Moore, the Gas House gang and the great Cardinal teams of the 30's and 40's.

Collecting 1964 and 1972 Topps Baseball in 8 or better

    Completed 1974, 75, 77, 78, 79 and 80 Topps Baseball raw

How in the world do you 'lose track' of T206 Hall of Famers????
  • purelyPSApurelyPSA Posts: 712 ✭✭
Holy crap, that's amazing. Maybe I can find that '66 GTO my dad used to have in the downstairs basement if I look hard enough. Seriously though, that's great, and for heaven's sake, GET THEM SLABBED. SGC is an option as they're strong in the pre-war arena, but PSA is fine as well.
  • I bought many T206's around 1981-83. I paid about $5 for commons and $20 for Hall of Famers. Cards at that time were described as excellent to mint.

Most were bought from SCD auctions, oldtimers will remember the auctions where we sent postcards with our bids. Some were bought at the annual collectibles show in Kansas City.

I remember selling my cards around 1995. For some reason these didnt get sold and I forgot about them. Funny thing is, I was sure I did keep a bunch of Cracker Jack cards, and I havent found those yet.

I distinctly remember showing my cards to Mr. Mint at a show, including a complete 1952 Topps set in excellent to mint condition. I ended up keeping that set and graded it in 1998. Most graded PSA 6 and 7 with just a few PSA 8's.

Most of my other cards were sold to a dealer who I can't remember his name but he was the first person I had seen measuring cards before he bought them. I thought he was pretty strange at the time, but turns out he was ahead of his time. I know I sold him a green background Cobb.

I can't really explain now how I could forget about still having the other T206 Hall of Famers. Seems pretty stupid.

well done. If these are for sale I'd be interested in the Bender and the Mathewson.
Looking for a Glen Rice Inkredible and Alex Rodriguez cards
  • I haven't found my Cracker Jack cards yet. I started my move (downsizing) in November, 2003, and just this week closed on the old house and finished my move to the new.

I have over 200 bankers boxes full of junk to go through. Hopefully, I'll find the Cracker Jacks, and who knows what else. But after a year and seven months of moving, I'm going to take a little rest for awhile.

I will sell the T 206 cards. I will put them on eBay if noone here is interested. I'm not really looking to get top dollar, as I look at this as a windfall.

So if anyone is interested in one or more of the cards, contact me at rgold7000@aol.com.

  • I have sold the whole lot to one buyer who made me an offer. Part of the offer consisted of some Red Man cards in trade, so I couldn't resist.

Thanks to those that made inquiries.
