Another 1926-S Buffalo Nickel....opinion please

After seeing Shamika's drop dead beautiful 1926-S Buffalo Nickel, I went and looked at mine.....JUNK! I don't have the money to spend on a PCGS 63, or even a MS60. I found this one I might be able to pick up. Any thoughts on it? I think it's a good strike for a 26-s, as most I have seen don't have a full horn. Thanks for you opinion. I think I'll get it, I just need a push.

“I believe in intuitions and inspirations. I sometimes feel that I am right. I do not know that I am. When two expeditions of scientists, financed by the Royal Academy, went forth to test my theory of relativity, I was convinced that their conclusions would tally with my hypothesis. I was not surprised when the eclipse of May 29, 1919, confirmed my intuitions. I would have been surprised if I had been wrong.”
“Then you trust more to your imagination than to your knowledge?”
“I am enough of the artist to draw freely upon my imagination. Imagination is more important than knowledge. Knowledge is limited. Imagination encircles the world.”

The pics to me look like the reverse has been wiped, the gunk that built up over the years looks to be smudged horizontally.
Also I can't tell if it's pitted or not.
Just some things to look at if you can get it in hand.
It's nicer looking than mine however.
ANY TIME..........in my humble opinion.....you can find a full horn 26-S...and you need it....BUY IT! They are getting scarcer and scarcer.
That coin will probably grade XF.
Mine is a mushy F-15
Hope this helps.
Pete
I do, however, see it as a reasonably attractive, extremely well struck lower grade. I'm very bad at grading buffs, especially 20's S-mint ones, so I won't muddy the water with a stab at which one.
Somebody feel free to correct my opinion. I'm not very secure with my opinions on the series, and would welcome any opinion as to whether mine is right or wrong.
This coin has an excellent strike which is hard to find for this issue. The striations on the reverse do not necessarily indicate a wipe or cleaning, but rather variations in planchet composition that has aged differently. I have seen a lot of streaked Buffalo and Lincolns from the time period.
The way the black spots show on the obverse and the reverse indicate to me that this coin has been lightly dipped or washed by some other method. I could be wrong about this, but the contrasts between the light areas and the very black spots are suspect for some type of cleaning. Notwithstanding, the amount of cleaning would be market acceptable, and certainly would be for me as a collector.
Again, this is just my opinion and it is certainly not a coin I would snub.

DMWJR is right on the money in my opinion. The striations might indicate the coin was wiped, but more than likely it is alloy variation.
Whether or not the coin has been cleaned is difficult to tell from the image, but the coin is very nice otherwise.
<< <i>Looking again at the pics, I would concur with the idea that the striations are natural - from the pic I can't decide about whether the obv shows a light wiping as well... but with a strike like that on a '26-S it's hard to go too far wrong. >>
I wouldn't kick it out of bed!
great looking example and mostlikely in the 45 range
