1970 Fleer Team Logo -- any info?

Does anyone know how these cloth stickers were issued? I mean, there wasn't a regular Fleer set in 1970 to insert them into, as far as I know. There's a population of only two graded, a Red Sox PSA 6 and this one. The reverse is blank.

  • If I remember correctly, they were issued in packs like cards. Only maybe less than 5 to a pack. I know I have a few of these left from my pack opening days.

That's an interesting card and cloth...I wonder if they were inserts in the 1970 Fleer World Series packs?
They did have something like it but not cloth - could this be a "regional" variation?

I seem to remember buying them in packs by themselves, although they might have been issued with the Fleer World Series sets of '70 and '71 as well.

Always looking for Topps Salesman Samples, pre '51 unopened packs, E90-2, E91a, N690 Kalamazoo Bats, and T204 Square Frame Ramly's

Fleer did come out with Team logos in 1968 also - I have a box - there is variation on the stickers in cloth which is more rare.

Here's the first pack that these guys came out in (1969 or so):

The '68 Fleer Iron Ons packs didn't contain these cloth patches. They were more like the paper tatoos that Topps had in 1960 (except not players). I don't believe the Fleer World Series cards contained any inserts. Fleer continued issuing the cloth stickers in various forms through 1975 when they switched to stickers.

The cloth stickers were inserts in 1972 along with Fleer Famous Feats:

and again in 1973 along with Fleer Wildest Days and Plays cards:

and then again in 1974 along with Fleer Baseball Firsts cards:

Great stuff and thanx! Those are really cool packs.

According to the Standard Catalog of BB cards, the 68F ML BB patches packs contained both team logo cards and patches. The card set of 24 for 18$ and the cloth patches set of 25 at 60$.

Also, the 70F WS Laughlin cards did have an insert of Team Logo Decals.

    Thanx for sharing
