Am I dreaming?

Or did I really just buy an autographed Bench rookie card for $62?
True, the condition of the card is crap. But to me that's almost irrelevant. It's a real '68 rookie card signed by Johnny, and certified in a slab. It's signed in ballpoint rather than Sharpie, which indicates it was likely autographed back in the day. Too much to hope he signed it in '68, I suppose, but perhaps in the early '70s. When did Sharpies come on the scene as the standard autograph pen?
Maybe only a Bench collector would think it was a good buy, but I'm thrilled. Many modern auto cards cost this much, and to me the VG condition doesn't matter as much as the OLD rookie card with an apparently OLD signature.

Nice pickup! And I don't know if we are dreaming or not?
i have his rookie, and i have his auto, but not an auto rc..
Sharpie was invented in 1964 by the way but I don't think it got big untill the 70's.
<< <i>Nice buy JR - Nice card! I imagine your snipe was well over $100? - LOL >>
Actually it was over $200. I guess I was the market for this item. I had nothing to compare it to except the Topps Originals reprint auto that went for big bucks. I see the underbidder was davino, who's not a Bench guy as far as I know. Anyway, it will be one of the prize pieces of my Bench / Reds memorabilia shrine.
Here's a 2005 Fleer Bench auto. Not numbered, but nice sig.
