Stuck inside a condom, then entombed within an ugly plastic slab ??? image

I'd prefer to own a nice raw EXMT example of the card for a lot less money ...

No doubt the holder is very ugly, but I do like the fact that the holder doesn't allow the card to hit the hard plastic edges like in the PSA cases. I've got a couple of PSA cards that appear to have been damaged by the holder edges/corners.
  • You could always crack the slab and get PSA to grade it - as an 8. image

Anyone really think he'll get his starting bid (besides the seller)?

What an ugly holder - but, a sweet card it is. I would have to agree - give me a sharp raw copy anyday.

  • would agree that card is a tough sell as gem mint, with l to r tilt on bottom. green background also doesn't look real vibrant (perhaps some snow or maybe just the scan isn't the best). I have a couple of psa 8's and that one looks like maybe an 8.5 or 9 at best (if the background is better than appears). Corners do look sharp.
But wow, what an ugly holder - almost as though trying to convince you of the grade!

I'd avoid GAI in general. I heard from very reliable sources that they've graded trimmed cards in the past. image

  • I would submit that the card in question may have been trimmed, either the top or the bottom, as GAI is known to have graded more then a few trimmed cards upon crossover scrutiny by PSA... I do not have any personal experiences as far as this goes, but I read the boards just like everyone else; I am yet to buy a GAI graded card...

If the card is so sharp, why would the owner who got it graded get PSA to grade it? What an ugly, UGLY slab...

The seller will never achieve his $5k pricetag.

    That is so ugly.

I think SGC takes the cake with odd sized cards. They custom cut their black inserts that surround the card so movement is just as limited as with their regular sized holdered cards.

Not the best scan but it's the only one I could find online..

I think it's reprehensible that you make such unsubstantiated accusations about the good folks of PSA like that.

If this were the 1800's, I would take my glove off and slap you across the face with it and challenge you to a duel!! image
