Heard that Vegas has given only four teams double digit over/under win totals for the '05 NFL season.

How will i ever get to sleep tonight knowing this news
Lets just cancel the season and hand the trophy over to the Eag . . Oh wait, what am i saying . Everyone knows you guys will never win a Super Bowl
Perhaps now i will get some sleep tonight. . Instead of counting sheep i will count Lombardi Trophies
HOW BOUT THE COWBOYS !!!
cowboys can lend you a real one to hoist up!

Is that like the weeping the Iggles have done each of the last FOUR years as they've failed to get the job done and CHOKED their seasons away?
Or is that like the gasping for air McChoke (oops I meant McNabb) does in big games because he'll never get the job done, either?
It must suck to always be 'almost' good enough huh?
<< <i>It must really, really. really suck for Cowboys and Bucs fans to know that they have NO CHANCE WHATSOEVER of getting to the NFC championship game, let alone winning it. Hey cheer up - Maybe Dallas and Tampa Bay have soccer teams in the fall that have a shot at some championship you can root for. >>
In Tampa of course we know that Gruden will be carrying GatorAde for Manchester United soccer after the '05 NFL season. That's what happens when you have to work off your contract for one of the owner's other teams.
You guys can spend all of your time polishing and fondling your trophies. You'll have nothing better to do during the season - just like the last few seasons.
Meanwhile, the Eagles and their fans will continue to ride the wave of competitive play into the Super Bowl.
It must suck to be a Cowboys or Bucs fan these days, having to rely so much on the past as your team bites the big wazoo year after year.
Dude, I would gladly give 2 years od medicority for experiencing the joy as a super bowl winner. As a long-suffering Bucs fan, through all the years of absolutely horrible teams, to finally feel redeemed that the Bucs can win the super bowl was amazing.
Say what you want about the Glazers, but they alone saved this franchise. The previous ownership had no interest in this team winning. Glazer comes in, and within a year, has the team with a winning season. They traded a ton of high draft picks to get Chuckie, to get the team over the hump and the team won the super bowl. With that win, it was known there was going to be some rough times after.
It was worth it. Every Bucs fan who wasn't just on board for the super bowl says it was worth it. As an Eagle fan who has NEVER won the super bowl, you will never understand it.
If you want to sit there and say you are happy being 'almost' good enough, that's fine. But no one outside Eagle-dom believes it.
<< <i>"Almost" isn't good enough but it ain't bad when we know that our Eagles will be in contention for a Super Bowl each year for the forseable future. The Cowboys and the Bucs will not be in contention for a Super Bowl for the forseable future. Congrats on your past accomplishments - that is all well and good - but the future is ours! Ha! Ha! >>
And what makes you think the Eagles automatically are going to win the NFC? What happens if McNabb goes down to an injury? What if you have a collapse in your defense? As a football fan you have to know, even more so in this era of parity, that a team just cannot compete at the highest level forever.
So you're saying a team like the boys or bucs have no chance? Why even play the games boys? Let's just pack up and come back next year cause some random eagle fan said so!
Actually that's a good idea for the Cowboys. That would save them the embarrassment of two double digit losses that our Eagles are going to stick them with this coming season. Jerry Jones better bring along plenty of Pepto-Bismol for himself for those two games!
I was away from these boards for awhile, as there was not a lot of football talk for a few months. Now I see why many find you to be quite annoying.
<< <i>Axtell, when I read your posts I feel lucky. I am an Eagles fan who will see a Super Bowl VICTORY one day very soon.
I was away from these boards for awhile, as there was not a lot of football talk for a few months. Now I see why many find you to be quite annoying. >>
And many of the readers send me messages thanking me for speaking my mind and calling out all the BS I see on these boards.
Look, no one is assured of anything in any sport. If you think the Eagles are going to dominate the NFC forever, that's your choice to do, but the reality is it won't happen. As the Eagles stand still, assured that the team they have will finally get over the hump, everyone else has gotten better, closing the gap.
What's wrong with me calling out the Eagles as bridesmaids? It speaks VOLUMES that they Eagles can't close the deal, that it took them 3 tries to even get past the championship game (and having 2 of those at home!) They had their best game they could possibly have in the super bowl-and still fell short.
Now take out TO of the mix (which more than likely is going to happen...there's no way TO and McNabb can co-exist peacefully now), and where are the Eagles going to be?
It's incredibly presumptuous, as an Eagle fan, to puff out your chest and say 'haha there's no way anyone can touch us! We're the best! haha' and not expect a ton of negative backlash.
What??? Axtell, you are a funny guy!
second place ribbons..congrats...I think
Gruden's doctor told him no gatorade buckets since they make his super bowl ring cut into his finger. Reid is clear though
The only reason Philly is predicted to win double digits is because they once again have a sorry schedule..thats ok, they can't win
the big one.
Does anyone know how many wins Vegas predicted the Bucs would have in 2002??? I remember....8
place your bets boys!

Well wit is one of my strong points...pointing out flaws in logic is another. But then, as an Eagle apologist (err, I mean fan) you wouldn't understand either of those qualities!
Gimme a break.
Now take out TO of the mix
TO didn't get them to the Super Bowl
(which more than likely is going to happen...there's no way TO and McNabb can co-exist peacefully now),
TO will play this season as an EAGLE.
and where are the Eagles going to be?
NFC East Champs, probable bye week, hoping the Bucs or Boys make it to the playoffs.
It would be a massacre - there wouldn't be any Cowboys or Buccaneers left alive.
<< <i>Pointing out flaws in logic? That is almost as rich as your sports acumen.

TO didn't get them to the super bowl? Without him, there's NO way the Eagles get homefield in the playoffs.
And even IF he does play this year, do you think he's going to put max effort, or have any sort of relationship with McNabb?
think they can beat them in the playoffs this year?
I still remember that punking we gave TO back in 02 in the playoffs..the guy was just scared! You can't win when your QB and your
best WR are scared!

didn't a certain Einstein just state that the Eagles lost two championships at home? They had homefield advantage for three straight seasons, and two w/o TO ... who missed both playoff routs last season.
TO will play. It is all about money, and he wants to get paid. Both players in question are professional.
How bout a bet Axtell or Joey? You say teams like the boys are closing the gap? I say lets make it interesting - which I offered last year to Koby and Kuhl, after hearing them speak of how the Tuna took them to the playoffs the year before.
we lost derrick burgess...SO?? he wasnt going to start anyway..ND KALU WAS BUT HE WAS OUT ALL YEAR!!! We got all our tackles back and just added a USC starter who won 2 national championships on that front lilne......Rayburn is playing better and we prolly draft DT next year too....
we got trotter back cause he wanted to be there.....and thats HUGE
we got TO by the balls...dont want to play?? FINE..YOU WONT PLAY FOR ANYONE ELSE IN THE NEXT 6 YEARS EITHER. And kiss your endorsements goodbye and any income whatsoever if your not doing what made you famous!!!
We got one of the 4 to 5 A's in the most recent draft.....we got some great GREAT special teams players coming in.....
3 out of 4 freaking secondary personell started the pro bowl..and the guy who didnt go has even more talent then lito!!!
WE DRAFTED NOTHING BUT O-LINE last draft and got people to FILLWHOLES the next 5 years...
Mcnabb is still having fun......short of breath or not??? Only one other guy has as much fun as McNabb...his name is Favre.....and its why he still plays the game....McNabb will be the QB for 10 more years and getting better each and every game.
SO LET ME ASK YA PEOPLE..........you really think philly aint going to be contending next year either?? and Drew Bledsoe is going to do what he couldnt do in "SB New England land" and finally win a Super Bowl on his own????....WIth Keyshawn screaming at him, and Quincy Morgan dropping passes?? you got 2 browns players in the last year to start for ya...WAY TO GO..there is a reason Romeo is cleaning house....Parcells and Jones are desperate...you guys just may ruin yourself for the next 10 years....
Loth
The Eagles are still the team to beat in the NFC. Plain and simple. They are not showing any signs of letting up this season, and will only be better.
Reid and TO had a conversation this past weekend ... within two weeks, everything will be a-okay.
Ya, i think the coversation went something like this
T.O : F U you Fat M*&%$#@ . I want my M*&^%$# F*&%##$ money now !!
REID : T.O you can kiss my Fat M&*@#%$# A$$ . Your going to honor the contract you signed you Greedy B#*%@

Dreaming again huh? Drew Rosenhaus does not like to lose - and TO not getting a new deal will be akin to Drew losing.
And just how is it going to be ok? Reid isn't in the front office, he doesn't work on contracts, he just eats Philly Cheesesteaks and waddles the sidelines...he has nothing to do with the contract negotiations.
<< <i>I did well last year on these types of bets. I haven't really looked at anything yet, but I might take the "over" on the Cardinals if their over/under is low. They're trying to make an effort to improve their offense - their defense is good, and that division is the weakest in the NFL.
Brian >>
Weakest division or not, the Cardinholes are going nowhere, once again. As bad as the Rams were last year, the division still belongs to them, until someone knocks them off. Remember, last year, predictions were the Seahawks in the S.B. until the Rams embarassed them in their own stadium, which caused their downward spiral, which they never recovered from.
The Rams will be much improved over last year, if only because they will (finally) have a new and improved rug to play on, which will (in theory) cut down on injuries and the revolving door of players. Look for Jackson to run over just about everyone in his path.

Andy Reid is also the Executive VP of Football Ops ... and Drew Rosenhaus is going to lose. So what if he doesn't like to. Who does?
He'll be back at some early part of the season if not from the beginning and him and Mcnabb will act like everything is just dandy untill T.O starts complaining about balls being thrown his way

Well I partially agree with your assessment for both teams. I won't do much homework on this before July, but one thing is that both teams were aweful on the road last year - winning a combined 3 games! Remember I wasn't saying the cards were going to be good just not as bad as predicted. Their predicted win/loss is 7 games - the Rams 8.5.
BTW guys, here's the win loss from the website I frequent. (In laymans terms the higher the (-) number means people are taking that side. i.e. the Redskins over 7.5 is -130 that means more people are on over than under)
