The centering will be an issue w/ that Mantle, however I still think it is a nice looking card to own.

Is there any chipping on the back of the card?

I would certainly get it graded!

The centering seems to be it's only fault
    Color is bold Corners sharp
Some chipping on the edge of the wilt

Looks like a diamond cut on the Chamberlain, but it still might get by. Depends on the graders mood that day....
  • I'm guessing a PSA 7 at best for the Mantle and PSA 6 for the Wilt.

I have a PSA 7 Wilt RC and the corners are sharper. The centering on the Wilt is nice.

I like the Mantle and think it looks closer to a 7 due to the centering.

The Wilt is either a 5 or 6? Hard to see the corners. This is all based on whether the surfaces are clean and there are no small wrinkles on front and back.

For the purpose of discussion - and not to be contrary but when the corners of a card are at 90 degrees whether sharp or not and the pic is off - it is called a "tilt" as opposed to a "diamond cut" where the corners are not at right angles and the card appears more like a slight parallelogram:

    true diamond cut:

Could be a bit of both Mike. I was going by the space on the inside of the top load on the bottom and lower right hand side

    Nice cards.
Mantle is either 8 OC or a 6.
Wilt looks like a solid 6.

    What EagleEye said.
Proud of my 16x20 autographed and framed collection - all signed in person. Not big on modern - I'm stuck in the past!
  • Based on the grading opinions, I think the value of the PSA membership to you may be questionable. I don't think the value you would get from the grades would make up the $100 difference (plus S&H).

You may try to put them on ebay with a nice scan and a reserve to see what happens.

Or YOU could get it graded by BGS and get a 10 grade and sell it for even more $$$$.

This is, if $$$$ is your primary objective, of course.

  • For the Mantle I put it at around $200-$250 raw. The Wilt will be around $400. This assumes there are no creases and the backs are fine.

That is awful high for a raw card w/ that kind of centering I think (the mantle).

You can purchase psa 7 mantles w/ sweet centering for that price!

Julen23 - You're probably right on the Mantle. The reality is that the range for raw cards is huge compared to graded.

What you would get on eBay..

150-$200 for the '69 Mickey Mantle as a PSA 6

350-$400 for the '61 Wilt Chamberlain as a PSA 6
