Change today

Well not really change but-

An older guy was trading in a buch of coins at a hardware store- 15-20 bucks. I saw on top of one piles of quaters was a different coin, before I could swap, the cashier took them in.

I later traded a US quarter cents for it.

No big deal, but I had never had a 1931 canadian quater before- vf.

  • A nice find there! It contains about a dollar worth of silver right now, less that a U.S quarter of the same date. But mintage was only 538,000 and the Standard Catalog of World Coins (try a library) lists it at $12 in VF. The mid-May copy of Canadian Coin News I just got from Lyle (Coincracker) lists it in its Trends section at $35 Canadian (~$27 U.S.).
