Greetings Darksiders!

Hello all! I've been collecting U.S. coins for a few years. I work in a call center with about 300 other people and in talking with them (I know pretty much all of them) they have found out about my hobby. Frequently people will bring a coin or two to show me because it's old or they've never seen one before and once in a while I buy them. Over a few years of this going on I've gained a lot of junk silver, two really nice U.S. coins and a jar full of miscellaneous foreign coins. The large majority of these foreign coins are from the United Kingdom and easily identified, but some are completely undecipherable to me.

Last weekend I attended my first coin show near Pittsburgh, PA. While milling about the bourse I came across a dealer who had but one small case on his table with maybe a dozen graded large cents in it. Nobody was anywhere near him and I had some questions, so we had a conversation. We talked for about 45 minutes with no interruption. Nobody was even looking at his table. When I decided to move along I felt it appropriate to buy something from him to compensate him for his time, but I wasn't about to drop $100 or more. Beside his lonely presentation case was a plastic bin labled "7 for $1.00" I grabbed a big ol' handfull of I didn't know what, gave him $5 and thanked him for his time. I chucked the loose coins in my bag and promptly forgot about them - until now.

First of all, I can't identify most of them. That fact alone will certainly drive me crazy. Would you all be so kind as to recommend a resource book or possibly a website to assist me in that task?

Secondly, the bug has bitten. I want more. I don't see myself spending tons of cash on these so-called "darkside" coins due to my dedication to my selected U.S. series, but they definitely appeal to me. The grand idea of a coin from every nation occurs to me and seems it could actually be accomplished without breaking the bank. Does anybody happen to have a small cache of random non-U.S. coins they'd be willing to part with for cheap? Grade isn't a concern, I just want one from as many countries as possible. I know this question would be more suited for the buy, sell, trade forum, but that place is almost strictly U.S. and always slabbed. Forgive me for being slightly off topic.

Thank you all in advance. I shall continue to lurk here as I have been for a time. Should the day come that I have something of value to contribute you will hear from me again.
