I had to load it in IE because it didnt show properly in mozilla.

    Yeah, that's pretty cheesy.
  • I was kind of interested in why this wouldn't show up in FireFox and then discovered it is probably because the Mozilla engine more properly renders the code. The hidden text is in a super tiny font, and I imagine that is the way the HTML is written. It is white text on a white background so it doesn't show up unless you highlight it by clicking and dragging across it. If you increase the font size several times, you can read it. (Ctrl++ in Firefox)

Is that a bad thing to place keywords so people come across your auction? Im not trying to be sarcastic, just curious about your thought.

It's one of the quickest ways to get your auction pulled by eBay, if they catch you or someone reports it.

I think the default ebay search only checks titles, so I have to think it's not much use. I find this much less offensive than those who sell a PRO graded Mantle and throw in a free 1985 Topps PSA 6 Gwynn.
  • its common practice. I dont see anything wrong with it.

how on earth did you find that text? do you do that select all on all your auctions you visit?

What wrong is I search for specific things and get this persons crap that I'm not interested in.. I search for 'Sawchuk' every day to see what treasures will pop up.. Today I had to weed through his 40 sum auctions that have nothing to do with Sawchuk just because he stuck 'sawchuk' hidden in his description along with other players and keywords that have nothing to do with what he is actually selling. Let alone it being against eBay policy and for good reason.

I couldn't figure out why these crappy auctions on non-sawchuk stuff were all coming up when I couldn't see 'sawchuk' anywhere in the auction so I did a edit.. find.. sawchuk and it highlighted the one hidden word.. then I clicked/dragged my mouse over that area to find many words..

If the words have nothing to do with the auction, like in this case, or someone who puts "PSA" in the title of an auction of a raw card, it's considered keyword spamming and is a violation of Ebay rules. That makes perfect sense to me - you shouldn't have to weed through auctions not related to what you're looking for just because someone put a keyword in their title/description.

I like the old PSA8? Has that been eliminated from Ebay?

    Stingray
  • Ive seen that expanded to a greater degree when I saw the same item pop up under Topps, Beatles, Chicago and corvette.

Ugh.. more and more each day from this guy in my daily eBay searches.. and wtf is this.. LINK to auction Was this on .10¢ day? If it was guess he didn't have anything to put up but just wanted to reserve an auction for a cheap 10¢ for later use of an actual item.

eBay's yet to do anything about him. This is the first time I've ever been so po'd and spiteful towards another seller on eBay.
